Sweet Dreams - Part 5
Here's chapter 5. Thank you to everyone who has read and commented so far! Picture is of Casey... Enjoy.

I jump up from the seat and walk to the window, pulling aside the curtain. I look down, but didn't see anyone. I opened it, so I could lean out and have a better look. That's when I saw the boy's sister with a handful of rocks in her hands. I see one coming up at me and duck just as it flies past me and hits my door with a loud thunk.
"Casey! What are you doing up there?" Mom yells up. Oops.
"Nothing, sorry mom, I just tripped."
"Well quiet down, and watch where you're going next time!" She says laughing.
"Yes 'm," I call back.
I look back out the window and see Steph staring up at me.
"Yes," I call down softly so my parents won't hear.
She motions for me to come down.
"Why?"
She motions again, and with a sigh I tell her to hold on and close the window before heading downstairs.
"Where ya going now?" Mom asks as I walk past her to the door.
"Uh...." I think about what I should say, then shrug figuring the truth wouldn't hurt.
"Out to hang out with Steph."
"Suppers just about ready, can't it wait?"
"No, it's an emergency mum, she wants me now."
"How do you know?"
"Uh, my window," I say, hoping she won't ask questions
But she just nods and answers "Suppers still bout' done."
"Don't wait for me, I'm not hungry."
"Are you sure hun?"
"Yes mum, I'll be fine."
"Are you sick?"
"M-o-th-er!"
"I need to check in on you sometimes Casey."
"Okay fine," I grumble. "I'm not sick, I'm just not hungry, and I've kept Steph waiting long enough.... can I go now?"
She chuckles and nods, and with her approval I yank the door open and run out, slamming it behind me.
Steph was waiting by a tree, she looks at her watch:
"Your mom?"
I nod.
"Sorry, she thinks I'm sick."
Steph laughs and then says:
"So listen, do you think you can talk to my brother? He's acting weird and he won't talk to me."
"And you think me talking to him will help?"
"Actually yeah." Steph says softly, "I do."
I look at her for a moment, then nod, "Okay, I'll try."
"Great."
We get up and she leads me into her house to her brother's room. She opened the door and motioned me inside, then shut the door behind her, and she was gone.
I look around, and notice first, how clean it was. It didn't look like any normal teen boy's room to me. Instead, it looked as though my mother had been in here.... interesting...
I see a guitar leaning against the far wall to my left, and a piano to the right of the guitar. A bed sat directly across from the piano and the guitar. With a lamp that sat on a night table beside it. A single book sat on the table, I walked over to have a closer look. The title sent a shiver down my spine. It read: 20 easy ways to kill a normal human being. What is this? I think to myself, right before I hear someone clear their throat, I jump and turn around, seeing the boy sitting in the shadows by a closet that I hadn't noticed before.
"Like my book?" He asks.
"Uh... I... uhh."
"No? Really? Well that's not good. I was hoping we had something in common... that's my favorite book."
"Really?" I say with a squeak.
He nods.
"After all, that's what I'm on this earth for right?"
I stare at him, for the longest time, before he starts to laugh.
"I'm just messin' with ya. Trust me, I don't kill unless I absolutely have to."
I nod. "Yeah, listen how are you doing?"
"Fine, why?"
"Wanna talk about anything?"
"Uh, no thanks though, did you come here to hangout? Or bug me?"
"Oh well..." I figured I better not say Steph came and got me.... "How about both?" I say finally. He laughed.
"You're a great girl Casey."
"Yeh, so when are you going to tell me your name?"
"Oh, when I'm ready, you'll find out soon enough."
"Oh.... please?"
"Nope, don't ask again Casey. Hey do you play guitar?"
"Um, I used to but I haven't played in years, I play a lot of piano though."
"Great do you feel like showing me whatcha got?"
"Naww, I'm not that great, I don't want to be embarrassed." I shake my head when he took my hand to lead me to the piano.
"Please Casey..." He said in a weird voice; that made me double over in laughter, not just because of the voice either, I was nervous, very nervous...
"Can't you just play, and I listen?" I ask quietly.
He looks at me.... "You really don't want to?"
"Not yet," I answer.
"Okay, well then when you're comfortable with me try it, okay?"
"Sure yeah, I'll let ya know."
"Great."
He was still playing, with me listening an hour later when Steph came and knocked on the door to tell us she got some snacks together that we might want. So in a few minutes we were in the kitchen, a really dark room, sitting at a counter in the center of the room, eating chips, and crackers.
