Surfing the Web: He's Mine (Chapter 1)

Kelsey is just like most teenage girls out there. She will do anything to impress the guy of her dreams. But how can she do that when she just got literally sucked into her computer (which happens in chapter 2) ?!
"Which would look better?" I held up my blue polka dot one-piece and my red and yellow bikini to my friend, Valerie. She placed her fingers on her chin and stared at them for what seemed like centuries.

Finally, she shook her head and said, "Neither of them." She continued when I looked at her confusingly. "Come on, Kelsey! You're pale as an Eskimo and have long orange curls, neither of those fit you."

"Well, thanks." I say sarcastically. "Then what should I wear?! I've got to look my cutest for Max. That is, if he takes a break from his surfing." I look back at Valerie and notice she's gone. I walk out into the hall and see her scavenging through her sister's closet. She pulls out a brown and gold-sequined bikini and mumbles to herself, "Perfect!" That was when she saw me standing there, staring at her. She throws it at me and pushes me into the bathroom.

I replaced my baby pink sundress with the new swimsuit. I've got to admit, it looks great on me! I walk out into the hall and do a mini fashion show for Valerie. She squeals and says "Max is gonna be drooling when he sees you in that!"

We hurry back into her bedroom to go over a mini pep talk and then head out to the beach.

Valerie's mom drove us there so we didn't have to carry the heavy cooler and walk. And another perk? Air conditioning! It's much-needed on a hot day like today. Here in Orlando, it's almost reaching ninety degrees and is like that every day in the summer. We're only minutes away from the beach and the car is quiet. I'm going over my pep talk in my head. Valerie's crossing her fingers and wishing for the best that the swimsuit works and draws Max's attention. And Valerie's mom- Well, she's probably wondering why I'm wearing her other daughter's swimsuit.

Once we arrive, I take a deep breath and step out onto the sand. I squint into the sunlight, out at the waves, looking for him. Bingo! I grab the cooler and my towel and head over to the far left side, first row to Max's stunning performance. I start speeding, excited, but Valerie stops me.

"Kelsey, look cool. Walk slow and confident. Remember that runway show we watched on TV? Think of that one girl, the one in the short black dress and killer boots. She looked good and she knew it. Be like that!" she hisses at me. I start walking again, this time my back was straight, I looked forward, and all was great until I tripped.

I looked back and saw my foot tangled in seaweed. Valerie squats down and releases my foot. I start getting up and regaining my balance when I heard a very familiar voice.

"Need any help? I understand how you might be so clumsy, I mean with your big head and all-" the voice cooed.

"Hey princess!" Valerie stepped forward toward Macy. Macy had to be the most popular, and most mean, girl in the 7th grade. And I was her main target. Good thing that Valerie was always looking out for me. "You better shut your big mouth or you'll be the one with the big head. The big swollen head, that is!"

"Aww, how scary! I better leave before I get hurt." Macy laughs before continuing. "But one thing, if you're here to watch Max, then don't bother. You might dream of him asking you out but it's me who he'll be within the end." She marches off with a smirk.

"Don't let that worry you." Valerie rubs my shoulder. But the problem was that it did worry me. How could I compete with her? Everything about her was perfect. Well, except her personality but she would act much nicer around Max, making him fall in love with her instantly.

"Valerie? There's got to be something I can do to have some advantage over her. I really like Max and I can't let her win him!" I start whining. Valerie shushes me.

"Well I doubt that she knows much about surfing. You could impress him with your vast knowledge on the sport!" I'm about to interrupt that I know anything about surfing except for that people say "Hang ten!" but then she continues. "I know, I know! But you could always look online about it, and then he'd so be yours!"

I consider this and keep in mind to save time for tonight to look online. Then we run out to the sand, lay our towel down, and watch Max in awe.
