This is the first chapter of this year, and a lovely one indeed... And it's from Jacob's Point of View after a long time... Enjoy reading it friends, and wish me Happy New Year too... Hehe!
Chapter 16 - Love Nurtures
"Please mom."
"No son, I won’t, you are already suffering so much of pain right now, I am not going to smuggle your books in here."
"But mom."
"And don’t talk so much you are not allowed to do so, and I know by the look of your face that it hurts you when you even open your mouth."
"Hmm." I said disappointed. If I won’t study now, then how will I pass my exams? Please God I don’t want to be stuck as a junior next year. I will lose the chance of telling Amelia how much I love her.
Amelia, I hope she is fine. Those rascals should be given a death sentence for touching my Amelia or else I will kill them. I hate the time when she was lying there on the floor, tears drying on the corner of her eyes, that bloody bite on her cheek, I want to kill those bastards, how could they touch my Amelia, and now here I am feeling ashamed of myself, why? Coz I wasn’t even able to kill them. How could you leave them Jacob? I wish the cops hadn’t arrived that soon there.
The ECG machine’s alarm went off, pulling the nurse and doctor into my room in a hurry as if they were running from a 20 feet high giant comic monster, who must have been after them in the hallway.
The doctor came and looked at my bloody red eyes filled with rage. I know my eyes look like a monster’s when I am so much angry at something.
I looked at my mom who was trying to look at me from above the doctor’s shoulder with a worried look in her eyes. Looking at her helped me to calm down a bit. I wasn’t sure how much value was it in the decibels, of the pain that I was feeling at that time due to the rise in my heartbeat and respiratory rate, but I know that it was enough to burn my insides. The pain in my right side of the chest was unbearable, but it started to get reduced when I saw the nurse recapping the syringe and throwing it in the dustbin. May be I had been given the sedative again for the third time since last day and that’s why the light on the opposite wall had started blurring.

"I am really so-rry for this Mrs. Hawkins. It should-n’t have happ-ened." I heard a girl saying this while she was crying.
"It doesn’t matter child, I am happy he was there to save you from them." I heard my mom trying to sooth the poor girl.
"But I wish he hadn’t got hurt because of me." Is that Amelia?
"Don’t worry child he will be fine soon. Go and wash your face, such a sweet face don’t look good with so many tears." I could feel my mom’s encouraging smile in her voice when she said that to Amelia.
I heard the door of the room open and close with a soft thud. I opened my eyes slowly and looked at my mom who was sitting on my left side on the couch. I tried raising myself and winced in pain, broken ribs really hurt! My mom came and raised the level of the bed so that I came into a half-sitting and half-lying position without any voluntary effort.
"Are you fine now son?"
"Yes mom."
"You know, you scared me."
"I am sorry mom." I said apologetically.
"Amelia is here, she has just gone out for something, will be here shortly. She is a nice girl. I am happy that you helped her when she was in trouble."
"I love you mom."
"What’s with this sudden burst of emotion?"
"For not, blaming her for, my condition." I said between my short Breaths.
"You heard us, didn’t you?"
I just gave her a small smile as a response to her question and received a smile from her in return.
"But don’t embarrass her, when she comes here."
"I know mom." I said still smiling.
The door opened lightly, and I saw my love entering the room with bowed head. I can’t tell you how much relieved I was feeling after seeing her there standing in front of me. Slowly she raised her head and was surprised to see me awake. The mark on her cheek infuriated me again but I diverted my vision and focused at her downcast eyes. I know she was feeling bad. I wish I could just stand up and hug her at that time.
"Hi." I said first to encourage her to look at me without feeling the pang of guilt that she was feeling which wasn’t required.
"Hi." She said in a low voice slowly coming towards the stool kept on my right side.
"I am sorry?"
"Is that a question?" I said faking anger in my voice.
Someone cleared her throat in the room, and I looked at my mom and saw her lips curled into a smile, that asked me to not tease Amelia like this.
"No, it’s an apology from the heart." I heard Amelia’s guilt burdened voice again.
"For?"
"For being the reason behind this situation of yours." I saw her wipe a tear before it came out of her eyes and I came back to normal.
"Don’t be, please." I requested. She looked at me for a brief second and then again went back to staring at the floor.
"Amelia you continue your conversation with him, and make sure he doesn’t speak much. I will be just back, it’s time to bring his dinner for him." Mom said to her and departed after giving an understanding nod addressed to me.
"I am sorry," she repeated herself.
"Hey look at me," she slowly raised her eyes to meet mine.
"Do I look like I am angry, at you or something?" I said breaking the sentence into two and feeling pain in the right side.
"Don’t talk much." She said looking at me, with a look in her eyes that displayed three emotions at the same time, care, guilt and strictness.
"Do I?" She shook her head from side to side without saying anything.
"Don’t say sorry then please?"
"Is that a question?" She said with a small smile spreading on her face.
"No, it’s a request from the heart." I said with a soft laugh.
"But you have to, do something for me." I said with the look on my face that would have displayed that I got an idea in my mind that wasn’t good.
"What?"
"Fetch my books, from my home."
"Are you allowed to read them here?"
I said shaking my head with a devil smile, "That’s why I asked you."
"No, I am not bringing them, it won’t be good for your health. Why don’t you ask your mom or Andrew?"
"Have already asked them."
"And they said ‘No’?" I nodded.
"And you expect me to bring them?" I nodded again.
"Why?"
"Coz you haven’t got an option."
"And how is that?"
"I won’t forgive you else."
"Umm... Doesn’t matter, but I am not bringing them."
"Huh? Please." I requested as I saw that my black-mailing won’t work.
"No."
"I will fail." I said with a sad face.
"So?"
"I will be stuck as a junior."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah."
"Umm... Okay but only on one condition."
"Anything." I said as I felt myself stuck in the same game that I started a while ago.
"You won’t over-exert yourself?"
"Promise."
"Okay but how will I do so?"
"I will text you."
"You don’t have my no."
"Can I have it then?" I said with a smile.
"Hmm, give me your phone and I will save it in your phone."
"No, umm, I don’t have it right now."
"Okay I am writing it down on the back of this notepad then." She said picking up the notepad and penning down her no.
"Here’s your soup for the dinner, son," my mom said entering the room.
She came and sat beside me keeping the tray in front of me and started feeding me like a baby just out of the womb, with a spoon and that too in front of Amelia. Mom’s cell phone started ringing and she excused herself and went outside in the hallway to attend her call.
I tried raising my hand and holding the spoon but I spilled the few drops of soup that I was trying to bring to my mouth because of the pain in my ribs. Amelia wiped the soup from my shirt with a towel and I got another mom spoon-feeding me again in the form of Amelia. But truly speaking, I was enjoying taking the soup from her hand. My love for her has started nurturing in my heart, and I was being nurtured by my love at the same time. I love her, I thought as I opened my mouth to take the soup for the seventh time from the spoon she held.
