The most popular among people is the water-powered sump pump drainage as they are simpler to operate as compared to battery powered pumps. Moreover, the best part is you don't need to spend a lot of time and money to maintain a water powered sump pump. So the chances of water powered sump pump going wrong is less. You just need to install it and keep testing it after every 6 months. Moreover, if the water pressure is more than 100psi quite frequently, then a water powered pump comes in handy.

Even though a water powered sump pump is a better option, there may be times when a battery powered pump is the only option. In such a case, you need to take into consideration, the time and amount of money you would need to maintain such a battery. If there is no power for an extended period (though rare, but possible), then you would lose the draining facility of a sump pump. You may also need to consider the fact that batteries need replacement, so plan your budget accordingly.
