Summer 21
The Continuation.....
"You’re Nicole’s friends, right?" Emma said. The three girls seem surprised, she thought.
The three girls were surprised by the calmness that Emma was sowing towards them. They had expected her to be sarcastic or furious or angry or, oh and so many words to describe a person who was being insulted. But they seem to expect the wrong thing.
"You’re not angry." It was a statement not a question but she still answered Chelsea.
"Why would I be angry?"
"For the way Noel behaved in front of you. You know, the way she keeps following Daniel and talk to him like you are not around." Gabby said glancing sideways at Shayne and Chelsea.
"I’m neither angry at her nor at you. I think you’ve judged me wrong." The statement was clearly for them to feel guilty, she thought, but she said it with a grinning face that made them thought the opposite. When the three girls didn’t say anything, she continued. "Would you like to come with me? I’m going to a small boutique outside the resort with the group."
Surprised again, Shayne asked,"Is it okay? I mean, would you’re friends be okay if we come with you?"
"Don’t worry about them. I’ll take care of you. As long as Noel’s not around, there would be no problem between you and my friends." Emma chuckled. When they still hesitated, she grabbed each of their hands and dragged them eagerly.
"You’re my new friends now, right?" Emma started to doubt when they seem to walk heavily, as if forcing their feet to leave its places. She realizes as she let their hands go that she was making a fool of herself.
"You’re really loyal to Noel, you know. I hope we can be friends too. Well, if you change your minds, the offer is still open." With that, she turned around and started to walk away but only stopped when suddenly, someone grabbed her hand and gently tugged at it for her to stop. She grinned inwardly and turned slowly to them. When she turned around, her eyes were gleaming with happiness.
"So, did you change your minds?"
"I think we could buy some new clothes with you. I discovered I like your trends in clothes so I thought I like some opinions from you about the new trends in clothes." Shayne said amusingly, watching Emma’s face lightened up. Again, Emma grabbed their hands and led them to the small boutique outside the resort. Along the way, it was hard for Shayne, Chelsea and Gabby to hide their happiness. Emma’s enthusiasm was contagious and soon, all four of them were laughing at their childhood funny moments.
Until they arrived at the boutique and came face to face with Nicole and Vanessa, Emma’s great, real and supporting friends. When the three was introduced as Noel’s friends, Nicole and Vanessa were furious then seeing Emma’s cheerful face, they changed their minds instantly. Later on, Shane, Chelsea and Gabby blended with the group as if they belonged their before and Nicole and Vanessa thought that changing their minds was the good thing after all.

"You sure befriended them all." Daniel said as Emma joined him outside the boutique. She noticed from inside the boutique that he was in deep thought.
Emma stood across him and leaned on the wall. "You just wait. The next thing you know, Noel’s gonna be my best friend." Soft laughter came out from their lips as Daniel continued to think deeply. She leaned forward to him and brushed her thumb to erase the frown in his face.
"Hey, it seems that you’re thinking about something deeply?"
Daniel smiled at her then glanced at the sea instead, trying to resist the subject but Emma was still persistent.
"Come on, tell me. What’s bothering you?" when he still didn’t answer, she gasped and Daniel she’d been hurt and then she said, "Did you see someone you like more than me? Am I replaced already?" Emma intended it to be a joke but when the statement left her mouth, she was feeling devastated.
Daniel chuckled at the thought. How could he replace her when his mind was always occupied with the thoughts of her? She was being silly but when he saw her seriousness, he leaned forward to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear and looked straight into her eyes. He repeated the question that was inside his mind aloud and reassured her that she thought wrongly. That he would never leave her again.
"Then what’s bothering you?" Emma asked when she was reassured enough.
"It’s just that, well, are you really sure that you trust them?" Daniel inclined his head to the direction of where Noel’s three friends where standing.
"They were nice to me at the restaurant before so I’m returning the favor." Now it’s Emma’s turn to frown. Daniel chuckled and smoothed it from with a kiss.
"You know that I’ve known them for years." Daniel continued.
"So, what’s your point?"
"So, nothing. I’m just worried that you might get hurt from being friends with them. Like what I have said a while ago, I’ve known them longer to know how they treat the person they don’t like, especially when that person seems to be overthrowing their leader." Daniel smiled after explaining and tried to draw Emma towards him for a bear hug but Emma resisted.
Still resisting, Emma stayed leaning on the wall. "Why are you so worried? I can take care of myself, thank you." Emma said, crossing her arms on her chest and smiling amusingly.
"I’ve already said the reason." Daniel said, still trying to draw her to him.
"So, Mr. Daniel Hackfield, tell me, what are they planning right now? Is it something bad?"
"I don’t know Ms. Emma Summer." Before Emma could respond, he suddenly leaned forward to her until their breaths mingled. That made her silent.
Seeing her reflection in his green eyes, Emma doesn’t know what to do. She was mesmerized by it. She knew that he was going to kiss her and tried to prevent it but couldn’t move her body. He was leaning slowly to kiss her when he continued, "But I seem to have something better in my mind than telling you what they’re thinking."
Daniel was slowly kissing Emma when the group went out.
"Hey guys, break it up. You’re making a scene and shaming us all." Someone was telling them and they break their kiss abruptly that Emma almost stumbled when Daniel didn’t put his hand below her elbow.
Trying to escape the teasing and the bantering, Emma and Daniel challenged them by a race, to be done by pairs. Since Christine, Hailey, Sabrina, Chelsea, Shayne and Gabby don’t have partners of their own, they decide that Shayne is to be partnered by Sabrina; Chelsea to be partnered by Christine; and Hailey is to be partnered by Gabby. They ran away, giggling and laughing.
Nearing the resort, they slowed down to a jog and Noel’s three side-kicks decided to part the group politely so that they won’t be seen by Noel.
"I’m so glad that you invited us. We had a great fun. Not as great as shopping with Noel. Not wanting to go so soon but we don’t have choices or the cheetah will rage on us on and on if she will see us with you." Shayne said gaily as they jog ahead of the group. While running, Gabby turned her head and mouthed the words ‘thank you’ to Emma which she gladly respond with a shout of ‘you’re welcome’ and a wave of her hand.
