(Monday)

Criiing! Criiing!

The clock alarmed loudly so Emma and Vanessa sat up shocked, looking startled.

"It’s 6:00 a.m. already? I felt like I slept just an hour ago", Vanessa said tiredly as she went out at her bed.

"You go first, I’ll close my eyes for a minute", Emma said as she dumped her head to the bed. Vanessa shot her an angry look.

"You slept earlier than me so you go first", Emma said covering he face by her pillow.

"Fair enough", Vanessa said and sighed. She took her towel and her clothes and went inside the bathroom.

After a few minutes, Vanessa went out already dressed. She tapped Emma and Emma sat up wide awake. She took her own towel and clothes.

She went out after a few minutes fully dressed. Together they went downstairs with their bags to eat breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. Summer were already sitting in the chairs around the dining table waiting for the two to arrive.

"Hurry up. Nicole’s car will arrive and you two have not yet eaten your breakfast", Mrs. Summer called out.

They quickly ate their breakfast but they were too excited to finish their food. They went outside and headed to the gate of Nicole’s house where Christine, Hadey, Sabrina, Rico and Matt were waiting. They joined the group and at last, the van came out.

"What is she doing here", Emma asked Nicole when Nicole joined the two.

"Mum said to invite her because she thought that she was my friend. Then I thought that she will only go at the day of my birthday but mum said that she will join us for the rest of the summer. Don’t worry, if she starts to annoy you, today, tomorrow, the next day or for the rest of the summer, I’ll tell mum all about it and make her leave our resort", Nicole said.

"Thanks", Emma said feeling relieved. Nicole left the two of them to talk with Matt, Christine and Hadey.

"Emma, I’m not going to sit beside you in the van", Vanessa whispered.
"Why", Emma asked.

"I’m trying to know Rico much better but I’m not going to flirt to him", Vanessa giggled.

"Where will I sit? I don’t want to sit with Hadey and Sabrina", Emma said worried.

"You can sit at the back portion of the van. You can have it all your own", Vanessa said.

"But what will you say if he ask you why are you sitting beside him", Emma asked.

"I’ll tell him that I don’t want to disturb you because you want to sleep", Vanessa said and left Emma standing with mouth half-open.

Finally Daniel arrived when they put their bags at the trunk. He put his bag beside Emma’s and he was the only one last to get inside the van. The engine started and he went inside. Christine was sitting with Nicole in the front seat, Matt, Rico and Vanessa were sitting at the first three chairs, Hadey and Sabrina were sitting at the second three chairs but the second third chair was empty. The third three chairs were only occupied by Emma hugging a pillow while watching outside the window.

"Daniel, you can sit here", Sabrina said as he passed her chair. Daniel was going to sit there when he noticed Emma alone in the last three chairs.

"No, you two can sit here. I’ll sit there at the back", Daniel said and sat beside Emma but in a short distance. Emma didn’t notice that Daniel was sitting beside her so Daniel made a way to let her notice him.

"Hi", Daniel greeted. Emma faced him and she seems to be not surprised.

"Oh, hi", Emma said and faced again the window.

"Why is Vanessa not sitting with you", Daniel asked trying to get her attention.

"Vanessa wants to sit with Rico because you know", Emma said while smiling. Daniel smiled too because he knew what Emma meant. The both of them and Nicole were the only ones who knew that Vanessa had a huge crush on Rico.

While in the seat where Hadey and Sabrina were sitting, Sabrina was pushing herself to the chair to listen carefully to them, wanting to know what were they talking about. The van started to go. Nicole had put a CD and played it. It played the favorite musics of the group that Nicole had put it in a CD for the trip.

After half an hour, Nicole turned it off and slept along with the group but Emma, Daniel and Sabrina were still wide awake. Sabrina’s temper was rising everytime she thought what was happening at the back. While Daniel and Emma kept silent so Sabrina won’t start another fight between her and Emma. Daniel kept glancing at Emma while Emma kept opening her two eyes for her not to sleep but she was too sleepy so she closed her eyes and leaned to the window. Daniel noticed her and smiled. He moved closer and moved Emma’s head to lean at his shoulders. Emma was sleeping soundly so she didn’t notice it. Daniel felt sleepy so he leaned on top of the chair’s back. Emma was still hugging the pillow but her right hand fell and landed on top of Daniel’s left hand. Sabrina realized that she was the only left awake so she moved to the last chair and looked at Emma and Daniel. When she saw Emma leaning on Daniel’s shoulder and her hand on top on Daniel’s hand, her temper was growing more and higher. She felt her insides were burning in anger and smoke was coming out of her ears.

"Are you jealous?"

Vanessa’s face appeared on the side of her chair. Vanessa saw Daniel and Emma so she decided to annoy Sabrina.

"Me? Jealous? Why would I? I know that Daniel doesn’t like her. And I’m not that kinda girl who flirts around", Sabrina said sarcastically.

"Mm-hmm", Vanessa said.

"Are you sure you didn’t mean yourself?"

Nicole was now wide awake and was now joining to annoy Sabrina. Sabrina was angry again, still in the last chair and didn’t say something. She gritted her teeth and still didn’t say something.

"See? You can’t even reply. If I were you, I’d been lowering my head, shut my mouth and mind my own business", Nicole said sarcastically.

"Hmpf", Sabrina said.

Vanessa laughed and Sabrina moved to her original seat where she can’t be seen by the two.

The two burst out in silent laugh and stopped after a few seconds. The two fell into sleep while Sabrina was still awake and was so angry.

I’ll show them that I’m the one who Daniel likes and not that Emma, she thought.
Sabrina didn’t sleep and still too angry. An hour past when Daniel woke up. He noticed that Emma’s hand was in top of his hand and smiled. He moved Emma’s hand and put it to the pillow. He slept again but awoken by the horn. Emma moved and leaned her head side wards near the window. Daniel didn’t let her lean to his shoulder again, moved away from her like it was before and decided not to sleep again. He had his backpack in his side and his laptop was in it so he took his laptop out and checked his mail. He wished his guitar was there so he can play it but it was in the trunk. If only he could take it out without stopping the car but there was no way.

Sabrina noticed Daniel so she kneeled at the chair.

"What’re you doin’", Sabrina said as she flirted to him.

"Nothing", Daniel said while turning off his laptop and closed it. He put it to his backpack, put his arms crossed in his chest and faced the right side window. Sabrina was disappointed so she stood up and sat at her chair angrily that made Hadey woke up.

"Hey! Slow down", the small and soft voiced Hadey said and went back to sleep.
She has to stop flirting on me, Daniel thought angrily. He glanced at Emma and thought,

Maybe that’s why Emma will not be talkative to me because of her.
