Summer 4
Love story
Daniel went down to throw the broken pieces outside. In the kitchen, he spotted his grandma and Aunt Marie sitting opposite each other while eating breakfast. Daniel stood there hoping they could notice him and finally his grandma turned and spotted him. He went inside and hugged them. His grandma’s age was 70 and his Aunt Marie was still in her 20’s.
"What time did you arrive", his grandma asked. She gave him a glass of juice and a plate, knife and fork.
"Thanks. I think, 6:00 a.m.", Daniel said as he filled his plate with lots of rice and bacon.
"You’re cooking is still delicious, grandma", Daniel said after swallowing a spoonful of food and his grandma smiled.
"How are you", Aunt Marie asked.
"Fine. Mum still doesn’t want me to continue my studies here but I forced her and dad helped me until she said yes", Daniel said and smiled as he remembered Emma’ face in seeing him.
"Daniel, do you still remember that friend of yours, Nicole" Aunt Marie asked.
"Yes, and I think her usual summer party is next week’s Saturday. Am I right", Daniel said.
"Yes and tomorrow all of your friends will be going to the Jacobe Spring and have a free two months summer vacation in there", Aunt Marie said wishing that she can go.
"What’s that", his grandma asked pointing the cellophane where Daniel put the broken pot.
"I broke it when I went upstairs in my room. There was a sleeping cat and I accidentally stepped on it making it meow angrily. I backed off and hit it", Daniel explain. "Don’t worry. I’m not gonna play on it. When I finish my food, I’m gonna go out and throw it out in the garbage", he added. He remembered the day he broke a pot. He played on it by making it a ball in the backyard even if it’s not round and threw it all over the place causing one window to break.
He finished eating and headed outside holding the cellophane. Nicole’s house’s gate was open and Nicole was sitting in their swing reading a magazine while listening to her i-Pod. He headed to the trash can and dropped the broken pot noisily. At the sound of it, Nicole noticed him and ran toward at where he was standing.
"When did you arrive", Nicole asked.
"Just now. I heard that you will celebrate your summer party at the Jacobe Spring again", Daniel said flatly. He felt that they totally forgot about him.
"Yeah. And you’re invited. If you want to go, there will be a car arriving early tomorrow for us. So if you want to go, pack your things and wake up early tomorrow and you will have two months stay in there for free", Nicole said and ran back to her house before the maid closes the gate.
He went back to the house and told his grandma and Aunt Marie what Nicole had said.
"Then go. Pack your things. We’re invited too but cannot stay there for free", Aunt Marie said.
"Thanks", Daniel said. He climbed upstairs and went to his bedroom. While packing his things, he kept glancing at Emma’s room to see if Emma is in there. He finished packing and took a short nap before lunch.
"Lunch is ready", his grandma shouted from downstairs interrupting his sleep. He went downstairs and ate his lunch quickly. His grandma asked him to throw the garbage again but as he went out, he spotted Emma heading towards him carrying cellophane full of garbage. He quickly dropped his and quickly turned around when he saw Emma running towards him.
