Sugaring Hair Removal

Do you know anything about the method of sugaring hair removal? If not, read the following article to know more:
Sugaring hair removal is exactly what it sounds like - Using sugar to get rid of body hair. The perfect solution to skin care, if you please. It might surprise you to know that this form of hair removal, has been around for centuries, and was in fact very popular in the Egyptian culture. With women's needs of having to preen themselves and being sticklers for getting rid of body hair, the sugaring method might just be the easy solution for them. Let us see why.

What is Sugaring?

Sugaring is blending sugar with certain other natural ingredients like lime, honey and water (among others) and making them into a gel or paste form, which is then used for getting rid of body hair.

In case of the paste formula, before the mixture is applied onto the skin, the skin is first cleaned and lathered with lotions to moisten the area and make the hair follicles soft. Then the mixture is applied all over the area, taking care to apply it in all directions. This is done by applying it in the direction of the hair growth and then against the hair growth. Once the paste has been evenly spread, it is allowed to sit and dry. Once that happens, then the hair is flicked off by using the cloth strip in the direction of hair growth.

When the gel method for sugaring hair removal is used, it follows a close similarity to the method of waxing. The gel is applied in the direction of the hair growth and then ripped off in the opposite direction, using a strip.

Advantages
  • There are all natural ingredients that are used in the preparation of the sugaring gel or paste. Therefore it is one of the safest herbal remedies of all times.
  • There are no side effects.
  • The pain experienced is lesser than that experienced during waxing.
  • A huge area of hair can be targeted at once unlike in waxing.
  • It is easier to clean up than the wax that is used in waxing.
  • The paste/gel can be stored for a long time.
  • The results last for about 6-8 weeks.
  • It is very effective because it can get rid of hair that is hardly 1/6th of an inch.
  • You can apply the sugaring gel/paste to the same area to get rid of missed hair and it won't cause any harm (unlike waxing).
  • With continued use of this method, it will lead to a reduction in the overall hair growth.
  • All the ingredients are readily available at home and therefore it becomes a very economical choice to go in for.
  • Sugaring facial hair removal is also possible because it does not stick to the skin as badly as wax does. Therefore it does not cause the skin any irritation.
