Subaru Legacy Chases Impreza's Footsteps
Subaru boasts another worthy addition to the Japanese manufacturer's clan - Legacy. The most recent Subaru Legacy is an epitome of heightened performance grounded by symmetrical all-wheel drive.
Subaru is proud to deliver its horizontally opposed engines which are similar to that of Porsche. The engine is incorporated in the latest model of Subaru Legacy, a midsize car introduced by the automaker in the year 1989. The redesigned Legacy made it more Subaru than before.
The first Legacy was equipped with a 2.0 L engine with all-wheel drive. In Japan, Subaru Legacy is famed for its agility and affordability. In fact, the affordability factor of the vehicle extends as well to 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback accessories, which are engineered to augment quality, performance and style. The accessories, which include sunshade, oil filter, car cover, wheel dust shields and others, are tested to suit and perform according to the standards set by the automotive industry.
Subaru Legacy is expected to follow the successful footsteps of Impreza. The latter is a compact car introduced in the year 1993. Its name was coined from the Italian word 'impresa', which means a badge or motto. In Poland, impreza means to celebrate or party. Impreza hits the market with a smash. Since its debut up until now, Impreza is getting brisk sales. It is also deemed as one of the best-buy vehicles available today.
Legacy is brought to the next level when the automaker introduced it to boxer engine. It is now Subaru's flagship model. It comes in either a station wagon or a 4-door sedan. Next year, Legacy will be expanded to include the Spec B sedan. The upcoming model put emphasis on performance. Hence, it uses improve Subaru Legacy parts like drivetrain and suspension. It also borrows the electrifying engineering of Impreza WRZ STI.
Ted Lalka, Subaru of Canada's vice-president of product planning and public relations explains, "Subaru is a big advocate of grand touring. The Spec B is more of a GT model than a performance model like the STI, but has a lot of the same type of performance character. If a stock Legacy is a Spec A, then the Spec B has everything that comes with it, but with suspension and handling modifications."
