Strep Throat Treatment
Strep throat is one of the most common illnesses. So, what are the strep throat treatments available? Here's an article that explains about strep throat and strep throat treatment.

Strep Throat Remedies
In my opinion, the simplest way to cure an illness, is to create an atmosphere in which the bacteria can't survive. The same applies to strep throat home remedies. If you create a situation in which the bacteria cannot survive, then that is your best strep throat treatment.
The first thing you must do if you think you have a strep throat, is that you have to go to a doctor, who will be able to properly diagnose it. You can also take the strep test at home. Strep throat is often confused with sore throat, as the symptoms are quite similar. But, since the medication for each disease is different, it is very important to know whether you have a sore throat or a strep throat.
Once you are diagnosed with strep throat, the doctor usually prescribes a medication for 10 days. The most common strep throat antibiotic is penicillin, but if the person tends to have an allergic reaction to that, cephalexin or amoxicillin are prescribed. These medicines are to be taken for 10 days, and if the strep throat isn't cured till that time, you may have to make another trip to the doctor.
While, these were the best strep throat antibiotics, there are also other home remedies for strep throat.
- Drinking plenty of fluids is the easiest strep throat treatment at home. So, whether it is soup, broth or just plain water, make sure that you consume enough liquids.
- You can also try gargling with warm water. You can add a dash of salt to it, as it will help reduce the inflammation in the throat.
- You can also try mixing a bit of honey and lemon juice in your warm water and drink it up. Honey is one of the oldest nemeses of strep throat and ensures quick relief.
- Consuming herbal tea too, is an old remedy for strep throat in adults.
- Your body gets tired trying to fight the illness; hence, it is important that you give it enough rest. Make sure you complete your daily quota of sleep and do not take too much stress.
- Avoid eating spicy or acidic foods, as they may increase the inflammation in the throat. Consume foods like yogurt and mashed potatoes and soft fruits, which will not hurt the throat on their way down and keep you nourished to fuel your fight against the strep bacteria.
