Recipe #1: Using Basic Ingredients
Ingredients
- Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Boiling water - 2 cups
- Strawberry flavor gelatin - 1 package (6 ounce)
- Cream cheese, at room temperature - 8 ounces (1 large block)
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Whipped topping - 1 cup
- Sliced strawberries, fresh or frozen - 2 heaping cups
- Butter, at room temperature - ¾ cup (1-½ sticks or 12 Tablespoons)
- Crushed thin pretzel sticks - 2 cups
To prepare this yummy strawberry pretzel, first preheat the oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit. Then crush the pretzels in food processor and then put them in a mixing bowl. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar and butter to crushed pretzels. Grease a 9 by 13 inches loaf pan and spread the pretzel mixture to form crust. Bake this mixture for 10 minutes until it turns brown. Let it cool completely. Take strawberry gelatin in a medium-sized bowl and pour 2 cups of boiling water to it. Stir this mixture, until the gelatin melts completely. Let the mixture cool to reach room temperature. Now, in another bowl add 1 cup sugar, cream cheese and whipped topping. Beat this mixture until all the combine the ingredients properly. Spread this mixture over the baked-cooled crust of pretzels. Then put in strawberries into the gelatin and let the mixture thicken slightly. Spread this mixture over the cream cheese layer and refrigerate it until it becomes firm. To serve this strawberry pretzel jello dessert, cut it into small squares.
Recipe #2: Using Pineapple and Margarine
Ingredients
- Reduced fat margarine, melted - ¾ cup
- Sugar, divided - 7 tablespoons
- Low-fat cream cheese - 8 ounces
- Unsweetened crushed canned pineapple - 20 ounces
- Crushed pretzels - 2 cups (8 ounces)
- Sugar-free strawberry gelatin - 2 (3 ounce) boxes
- Sugar substitute, equivalent to 1/2 cup sugar
- Frozen sliced sweetened strawberries, thawed - 2 (10 ounce) packages
- Frozen light whipped dessert topping, thawed - 8 ounces
In a medium-sized bowl add crushed pretzels, 3 tablespoons sugar and margarine. Grease a baking pan of appropriate size and press the crushed pretzel mixture to its bottom. Bake this mixture at 400 degree Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes. Let the mixture cool on a wire rack. Then, in another mixing bowl, add sugar substitute, remaining sugar and cream cheese. Beat this mixture with electric mixture until the ingredients combine properly. Add whipped topping to this mixture and then spread it over the cooled pretzel crust. Refrigerate this mixture until it chills completely. Extract the pineapple juice and add some water to it, to measure one cup. Pour the pineapple juice in a saucepan and bring it to boil. Then pour this pineapple juice into a large bowl and add gelatin to it. Stir the mixture until gelatin gets dissolved. Then separate the strawberries and the strawberry juice. Add some water to strawberry juice to measure 1½ cup and then stir it into the gelatin mixture. Refrigerate this strawberry pineapple gelatin mixture, until it sets properly. Then add the strawberries and pineapple to it. Spread this mixture carefully over the cream cheese layer and refrigerate it for 3 to 4 hours.
