Storm (9)
As I go in the kitchen, I look over my shoulder to find Chris on the phone. I go to the refrigerator, and take out the honey ham, lettuce, one tomato, cheese, and mayo. I put them on the island counter and close the fridge. I get the bread; I take out 2 slices and start making my sandwich.
While I put the cheese on, Chris comes in from the living room.

"So who called? Was it Nathan?" I said, still assembling my sandwich.

"No... It was the hospital. They want me to go and check some patients." Chris sits on the stool across from me. I stopped and looked at him with a grin.

"Chriiiiiiis, but you know what the weather lady said DON'T GO OUTSIDE. Is it urgent?" I said still looking at him.

"I know what she said. But people are hurt; it’s my job so treat them. So I have to go, do you want to come with me?"

"It’s ok; I’ll stay, but thanks for the invite." I said continuing building my sandwich.

"Ok I’ll see you when I come back. Be careful, if something happens you have your car and you have my phone number."

"Chris wait- I stopped Chris before he left - umm what hospital do you work at?"

"Oh, I work at Seattle Medical Center. If you need anything just ask for Dr Chris, They will pass you directly to my office. " While Chris told me this, I took a BIG bite out of the sandwich.

"Ok, thanks. (Still chewing) I’ll call later to tell you how I’m doing. ---GULP--- Have a safe ride there."

"Ok. I’ll be back as soon as I can" Chris kissed my forehead and left. Even though Chris and I never had a passionate moment I felt a strong connection with him. I don’t know if I show tell him, or wait for him?
I really shouldn’t be thinking this. ANGELA SNAP OUT OF IT!!!! UGH.

When Chris left, I continued eating my sandwich. The thoughts of the worst things that could happen found a way into my head.
- Chris driving and getting hit by a lightning strike.
- Car gets stuck in the middle of the road because of the flood.

The sound of thunder side tracked me from all those thoughts. This was the first time I thanked thunder.

I looked outside the window of the kitchen, hail still coming down. Even though it’s winter, the summer seems like a nice place to be right now, even though I would prefer winter. Under these circumstances I changed my mind about winter. Hopefully global warming gets back in balance before we get frozen.

When I finished my sandwich, I put everything away and washed the plate. I cleaned the counter and made my way out of the kitchen. I wondered what other rooms are in this house, so I decided to go and take a look.

The only rooms I’ve been into are Chris’s bedroom, Living room, kitchen, bathroom and guest room. But I’ve noticed there are about 5 more rooms in the house, or at least that’s what I’ve seen.

I went down the hall; it was still dark black outside, I could still hear the rain and hail hitting the roof. I went down the hall to look at some rooms. I found a gym (weight room), Chris’s office, library, a garage, and a small indoor pool. The rooms that really excited me were the indoor pool and the library. I could take a couple of swims when I get bored. And for the library... I could read every single book. I went into the library and started on a book. 30 minutes past and felt the urge to go swimming.

I walked towards the guest room, and opened my suit case. Looked for my bathing suit and placed it on the bed. I took off my sandals and took off my hoodie and place it on the bed. I grabbed my shirt from the bottom and started to lift it up.
DING DONG DING DONG, ugh I wonder who it is. I put my sandals back on and pulled my tank top down. I leaf the hoodie on the bed.

I walked to the door and opened it. There he was, Nathan standing there with a nice small smile.
Nathan was wearing jeans with a snow jacket on. He came in and put away his puffy jacket, only leaving him with his leather Jacket, a navy sweater under the jacket and his pair of jeans. The leather Jacket really emphasized his built up body. But Chris’s body is better looking; especially after you’ve been hugged by him... you could really feel them. WOW, it’s still breath taking. Nathan’s voice thankfully brought me back, or else I would have bragged more about Chris.

"Hey, Angela" Nathan says while brightening his face with a bigger smile.

"Hey Nathan, nice to see you again." I said while closing the door.

"Yeah, me too."

"So Nathan, what’s the meaning of this visit?" I said standing across from Nathan.

"I just came to get Chris. The hospital needs him, I finished work early so they told me to come and get him."

"But he has a car?" I said while looking at Nathan’s gorgeous hair.

Even though Nathan is HOT, Chris is GORGEOUS!
I stayed a couple of seconds comparing Chris to Nathan, but the sound of Nathan answering my question brought me back.

"Yeah, I know. They thought Chris got stuck and needed help from the hail. So I came here, just to check."

"Oh, that makes sense. But you just missed him; he’s on his way to the hospital. Do you want something to drink before you leave?" I said walking towards the living room and signaling Nathan to follow me. But he probably knows the house more than me, he is Chris friend. Nathan is probably here most of the time. I was afraid Chris might not have like Nathan being here with me, without asking Chris.... it’s his house. I was about to call Chris and ask, but I promised Nathan a drink.

We walked towards the kitchen and I had to serve him iced coffee.

"I hope you like iced coffee, there’s no power so I couldn’t hear anything." I said while passing the mug across the island counter. I grab a plate filled with grapes.

"It’s no problem; I’m warm in here already. So how are you spending your days here?" When Nathan said this, I felt a little sadness in his voice. It’s like he lost me in a game. The way he said it, it’s like he didn’t like me staying with Chris, but I ignored this and kept going with the conversation.

"It’s good, except for the weather. Has it ever snowed or rained like this before? " I said while I head towards the living room, and Nathan follows. We sit and keep talking.

"Rain and snow this hard doesn’t surprise us, but the time its taking... does scare us. Some doctors back at the hospital say that global warming is out of its balance and is going hay wire. We are worried and taking precaution about evacuating or at least staying as safe as we can."

I was about to talk, but I heard my cell phone ring. RING, RING, RING... I looked at the caller ID and it said "MOM".

"Sorry Nathan, I have to take this."

"No, it’s ok."

"Thanks" I said before I turned and walked to the kitchen.

I was worried, because my mom told me she would only call to see if I was ok or to tell me bad news.
I held the phone and flipped it open.

"Hello?" I said squinting my eyes preparing myself for the news.

"Hey honey its mom" she said with a tired and weary voice.

"Hey mom, how are you?"

"Not good."

"Why what’s wrong?" I said with a worried voice.

"You’re Father and I went to the hospital today, for our usual check up. And the doctor told me we both have a couple of weeks to live." She said with a regretting voice. She was probably right.

I was stunned at what she said. I imaged them going into the hospital and the doctor telling them they only have a few weeks. Their 50 for peats sake!!!!!!!

"Honey, are you there?"

"Yeah mom I’m here. But mom, are you sure the Doctor is right? I mean some doctors are wrong sometimes!!!" I said sitting down on one of the stools, not wanting to faint. I was getting really mad. I didn’t want to make things worse for my mom so I tried to call down.

"Honey, calm down. I don’t want you to worry too much. It’s no big deal, it’s just we are getting older and stuff happens."

"I KNOW. But your just 50 it’s NOT the time yet!!!" I started yelling from all that news.

"Honey, I love you. But it’s not up to us to decide on the time, if it’s time... its time. Angela LISTEN to me, I want you to be with us before we go. You have to stay strong and hope for the best."

"I know. Mom I’m going to have to call you later." I said, already crying. I grabbed my head with my right hand and the tears kept dripping, staining my sweat pants. That’s when I started to sob super hard.

"Sure, honey. But get back to me soon, about you visiting us. Ok?" she said trying to confer me.

"Sure mom. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can."

I hung up, dropped the phone and buried my face in my hands. Nathan heard me sobbing and ran to my side.

"Angela what’s wrong?" Nathan tells me as he places a hand on my back.

"My parents." I said sobbing breathing hard trying finishing the sentence.

"What about them? Is something wrong?"

"They... They... They’re dying" I said still sobbing. When I finished this, the sound of thunder meant little to me. While I sobbed, I heard the storm get harder and thunder seemed stronger.

Nathan didn’t say anything, instead he hugged me. He wrapped his arms around me tight, this gave me warmth and it calmed me down a little bit. At least I had someone there to consult me. We both stayed in each other’s arms for a couple of minutes (I was still sobbing), until Chris unlocked the door. When Chris opened the door the wind made the door SLAM on the wall. Nathan and I separated in surprise. I looked at Chris; his face showed different emotions. Confused, Hurt, surprised... this helped me notice that it was a bad idea letting Nathan in the house without asking Chris. I’m worried.
