Stomach Fat Reduction

Belly fat is something that distresses most of the adult population. A layer of fat on stomach is definitely a sight that shatters the confidence of many. Here are some tips on stomach fat reduction.
Stomach Fat Reduction
Flat stomach, complete with six pack abs is sought after by most people. However, today's sedentary lifestyle has rendered many middle aged people with fat, flabby stomachs. Crash diets or spot-exercises don't really work for belly fat. To achieve a flat stomach you must first understand, what causes the fat to saturate around the middle?

How and where is fat stored in a person, is largely dependent upon the gender, age, heredity and lifestyle of the person. Men tend to store the fat in the upper abdomen region while women store it around their pelvic region (butts, thighs etc). Unhealthy diet, lack of exercises are largely attributable to the stomach fat. Similarly, stressful routine also leads to accumulation of fat around your middle region. Most people try to burn stomach fat by excessive crunches or other abs strengthening exercises. However, this will only give you hard, six pack abs behind a thick layer of fat, which unfortunately nobody will notice! This makes it imperative to follow a strict diet and exercise schedule which is not only targeted at stomach fat reduction, but also helps to tone your overall body.

Diet
Forget about quick weight loss fad diets or the latest low fat diets, which aren't really of any use for belly fat reduction. If you are of the opinion that if you eat less, less fat will be stored around your middle, then you are wrong. Depriving your body of its nutrients will have no effect on your belly fat, but will only make you look paler. On the contrary, body tends to convert whatever less food you consume, into fats, so as to use them for future energy needs of the body. Hence, you should consume nutritious foods in small portions throughout the day to meet body's nutrient demands. Cut down on your intake of refined and processed foods, as these foods are rich in saturated fats. A balanced diet, rich in essential nutrients enables the body to utilize its fat store efficiently and finally results in reduction of belly fat.

Body Toning Exercises
Only working out your abs muscles will not help you burn your stomach fat. Instead, focus on strengthening all the core muscles of your body, which include muscles of hands, back and legs. Working out your entire body works far better for fat loss than concentrating all your efforts on the stomach fat. Whole body work out burns more calories than only working upon abs muscles for burning stomach fat. Go for aerobics or cardio exercises which ensure toning of entire body. You don't always need to subscribe for expensive gym memberships, but there are simple exercises which you can perform in the comfort of your house.

Lifestyle Changes
As mentioned before, the main cause of stomach flab is a sedentary lifestyle. Hence, make sure you find time for physical activities in your busy schedule. Simple things such as taking stairs instead of an elevator, wherever possible, will help you lose belly fat. Similarly, while at work, get out of your cubicle and walk a few paces around. Repeat this procedure at least 5-6 times a day. There are a few fat burning exercises which you can do while at work. For example suck in your lower abdomen and count till 15. Relax, and repeat the process for 5 minutes. Do this exercise whenever you can.

Any exercise or diet does not necessarily produce same results for all the individuals. Hence, as already mentioned, you should take into account your gender, age and body type and choose appropriate methods for stomach fat reduction.
