Steve McNair’s Death has been Ruled a Murder-Homicide by Police
The death of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair has officially been deemed a murder-suicide by Nashville police.
After a great deal of speculation and rampant media reports, former NFL star Steve McNair’s death has been categorized as a murder-homicide by police in Nashville, Tennessee. It has been established that McNair was shot in his sleep by his 20-year-old girlfriend before she turned the gun on herself, committing suicide. Speculation regarding the woman, Sahel Kazemi, indicates that she was concerned about financial difficulties and convinced that McNair, who is married, was seeing someone else.
Police Chief Ronal Serpas noted that Kazemi "was spinning out of control" when the murder took place. Through various interviews with her friends, police learned that Kazemi was taking on two car payments, was facing a doubling of her rent and, further, suspected that McNair was carrying on a second affair with another woman. A friend of Kazemi reported that she said last Friday, "My life is a ball of s--- and I should end it."
Police were at first hesitant to name Kazemi as the murderer until they had conducted a thorough investigation, but interviews and revelations about her personal issues led them to conclude that she had, in fact, pulled the trigger on a 9mm semiautomatic pistol in killing McNair. McNair, who is 36, met Kazemi about six months ago at a sports café where he and his family ate regularly. Kazemi was a waitress at the café. Said Serpas, "We do know that she was clearly sending a message during the last five to seven days of her life that things were going bad quickly." Apparently, according to Serpas, Kazemi "tried to stage it so she would fall in his lap." While her body did originally fall in McNair’s lap, it eventually slid off onto the floor and ended up at his feet.
