Steps Into Another World

What a beautiful sight it is to watch the little one step into school on the first day. Screaming or filled with query, he embarks on a new journey in a whole new world.
The slow drag, the hop and skip,
The wibble wobble of new shoes,
The crisp air and gardener's snip,
Chase away the 'first day' blues.

From mom's lap to teacher tall,
The toddlers step up to take,
The first day, the first roll-call,
And first fear of unknown shake.

First day at school is only just,
Our designed show of the 'self',
Ability to shake inhibition dust,
And step down from the shelf.

A whole new world is but a few
Steps along the sands of time,
Guided intrigue and shiny new
Lights twinkle alongside rhyme.

To lessons learned by great minds,
The toddler learns to add his own,
With new spark and different kinds,
He walks the path lit and shown.
