Step Aerobics Moves
Step aerobic workouts are great fun, as they include performing the step aerobics moves in coordination with the class and the instructor, on high beat music. Here are some basic step aerobics moves, that will give you an idea what goes on in a class.

Step Aerobics Exercises
Given below are the different step aerobic moves, make sure you do a warm up of seven to ten minutes, before you start performing these moves. Even if the class has started, instead of jumping directly into the class and performing the step aerobics workout make sure you perform the warm up, to prevent any muscle soreness or injuries. A warm up can be a mild jogging session.
A-Stepping Move: This move is done in four counts, and is called A step because it forms the alphabet A. To perform this move the platform is always kept sideways. The first step is to step on the center of the platform with your left foot (lead foot in this case), then bring the right foot on top of the platform, so that both the feet are together on the platform. Then step down with other foot on the other side of the platform with the lead foot, and bring the other foot down near the lead foot.
Basic Left-Right Stepping: This is the most basic among step aerobics choreography workout, and is done by facing the horizontal side of the platform. First step with your left lead foot on the platform, then step on the platform with other foot, then step back down with your left foot and bring your right foot down too. This was the left stepping routine using the left foot as the lead foot, now repeat the whole move using right foot as the lead foot.
Across the Top Move: To do this exercise, face the platform sideways. Then step sideways up on the platform with your lead foot, then step up with other foot so that both the feet are on the platform. Then step your other foot on the floor, and place your lead foot on the floor beside the other foot.
Grapevine Move: This is one of the basic move used in step aerobics routines, and can be done without using a platform. To do this workout, step to the side with your lead foot, then bring your other foot slightly behind and past your lead foot, then move your lead foot to the side and bring the other foot next to your lead foot.
Charleston Exercise: To perform this exercise, you can use a platform or do it on the floor. First step with your lead foot, then step forward with other foot. You can raise your knee, kick or just tap while doing this. Then bring your other foot backwards, and simultaneously while stepping your lead foot backwards, lunge.
Turnstep Exercise: To perform this workout, face the platform sideways. Step on the platform using your lead foot, and keep your lead foot perpendicular to the horizontal length of the platform. Now, step down with your lead foot on the other side of the platform, and step down with your other foot.
