While you can easily use a design software to create stencil letters to print, if you need many stencils, the best way to make them is to hand make them. This way the precision of creating stencils is much higher. Also, it is an art form that you will be glad to learn. In this section, we tell you exactly how to make a stencil. Given below is a list of things that you will need to create stencil letters.
- Card paper
- A board
- Paper knife
- Black market
- The first step in creating stencil font is to create the design on the card paper. For this, you can either choose to write the alphabet in double by hand or use one of the free printable stencil letters which can be downloaded and use them as a trace.
- Remember to trace the letters very neatly. Take your time while tracing the letters. Trying to rush with the process may cause you to make an error.
- Next you will need to place the card stock on the scrap board. This is important as you do not want to damage the surface of the table you are using.
- Now use the paper knife to cut the card stock along the stencil marks or the outline of the design. Be careful while cutting the paper as you do not want to hurt yourself in the process. If you accidentally cut a wrong spot in the design, do not despair. You can always use sticky tape to repair the same.
