Start of a War

North Vietnam and South Vietnam fight for their governments,
The North is communist, the south is democratic.
The United States got into this war to help the South out,
To help defend against the enemy.

Blasts of guns everywhere,
Blood and gore from soldiers,
Medical officers running to save soldiers lives.
Fallen soldiers;
Friends, families, foes are dead.

Night came, silence throughout the camp,
Soldiers resting, trying to keep their food down.
"Keep up the good work boys!" shouted a general,
Sadness and guilt ran through everyone mind.
Waiting for the upcoming days,
Waiting for home.

The great homecoming,
Happiness showed on soldiers faces.
Citizens looked away,
Confusion to soldiers.
They sacrificed their rights, lives, freedoms,
To protect the ones they love and everyone in America.
Keeping back emotions,
Anger, depression.
Keeping everything a secret,
From the Vietnam War.
