Did you start an Internet business expecting to make big money? Are you making money online? Many people hear the hype about how easy it is to make money online and jump right in. They do little research and are fooled into paying for some kind of get rich quick scheme. These programs seldom work and are a big factor in why many people don’t make money. The only ones making money with these programs are the originators, when they take your money.

The Internet is great place to start a business. You can make just as much money with an online business as you can with its brick and mortar counterpart. But in my experience, it is much cheaper to get started on the Internet. In fact, almost all of the methods that I recommend cost little or nothing. With a brick and mortar store, there are many expenses before you can open your doors: a building, electricity, heat, inventory, and employees to mention a few. With an online business, everything you need is available for free. You can use a free website, free autoresponder, and free methods of advertising. After start making money online, you can change over to some paid services, as the quality is somewhat better.

If your Internet business if doing poorly and you are not making money online, it is either due to the products that you are offering or your marketing techniques. Your products should be related to the content on your site. If your site is about birds, you will not sell many big screen TV’s. However, you may find great success selling birdseed, birdhouses, bird toys and other bird related items. Make sure that your product offerings are related to your niche.

The other problem might be marketing. Are you getting targeted traffic to your site? My primary marketing method is through the use of articles. I write three articles every day. It involves some work, but I enjoy writing. I like this marketing method because it works. Plus, the articles that I wrote six months ago are still working for me today. It provides a compounding effect. And I can write articles for free! On the other hand, pay-per-click programs can be expensive and only work on the day that they are shown. For that reason, I’ll stick with articles.
