Spring Break Safety Tips

Spring break is a great time, be sure to stay safe!
With spring break about to start for many students across the country, one of the most important things to understand is how to stay safe during spring break. Each year there are always incidents of over drinking or even worse a missing person. You have to some what expect this when you have millions of college and high school kids on their own for a week of partying and fun. It does not have to be a week of sadness though and there are ways to have a great time with out getting into trouble or harming yourself or others. This article is to help you understand a few tips on how to stay safe during spring break.

One of the first things you need to do before you go on spring break is have a safety strategy or guide. Some things to involve in your safety guide are contact numbers. Make a list of number for you to contact incase something happens and make a list of numbers for people to be able to contact you incase something happens. This allows for easy communication.

Another part of your safety strategy is to make sure you stay in a large group at all times. You never want to be out on your own, especially if you are out of the country, and you do not want any of your friends to wander off alone.

Also as part of your strategy have a map of where you are going. Understand your surroundings and where police stations are or hospitals. Also designate some areas for your group to meet up at incase you do get separated from them. Making sure you know your surrounds can be a lifesaver.

As we all know spring break is about partying and drinking, and that is how most of the problems occur. When you have thousands of young adults drinking all day and night there is bound to be some trouble.

Well a smart way to stay safe is to control the drinking. No one makes great or even good decisions when they have been drinking. You often ending up somewhere you are not supposed to be with some one you are not supposed to be with. Understand what you are doing at all times.

Make sure as friends that you have an eye on each other and do not let a friend drink more than they should. You all want to have fun, but be reasonable and remember that safety is first and foremost. There are plenty of ways to have fun with out getting black out drunk the whole time.

Going further with the drinking situation, you do not want to mix heavy drinking with activities that could cause to be dangerous. Some of these activities include swimming, driving, or any other activity that requires concentration or motor skills.

There are horror stories every year about kids drinking too much on the beach and then trying to go out and swim in the ocean. First of all the ocean can be a dangerous place for a sober person much less someone who is intoxicated. With a strong tide you can be swept under and lose your sense of direction.

Drinking and driving is a illegal anywhere you go, but someone will end up being a statistic every spring break. Just because you are on vacation does not mean you are invincible. Be responsible yourself and if you are drinking do not drive. Also, be a good friend and no matter how much they have had to drink take their keys away. They will thank you when they sober up.

Any other form of spring break activities such as go carting or budgie jumping is not a good idea. First of all who ever is running the place should not allow you to participate, but if they do there a lot of things that can go wrong.

Spring break is a time for fun and a time to make life long memories. However every year there are stories of tragedy and sadness. Be sure that you do not make that happen to you or anyone you know. Understand what safety means and implement in your spring break.
