Spring Break on a Small Budget
Most college kids do not have money to begin with. This spring break do it on a budget.
Most college kids do not have much of an income. Most of their time is either spent in the classroom or the library. What ever job they may have probably pays just enough for rent and some extra spending money here and there. So when it comes time for spring break, many college kids have to either start saving really early to do something or they have to get by with what they have. This is what we call going on spring break on a small budget. Most kids are probably familiar with this, but there are a few tips that they could use for their next spring break.
One of the first things a college kid must do for a small budget spring break is plan and plan early. One of the worst ways to burn through some much needed cash is to have no plan. This puts you in a position to where you have to come up with places to stay at the last minute.
Part of your plan needs to include the budget. You will need to break down exactly how much you have to spend for the entire week. This will help you determine what you have for hotel costs, transportation costs, and any other forms of spending. With out a clear budget you can run through some money pretty fast.
One of the major parts of spring break is the transportation. Since you are having to scale back and do spring break on the cheap this year, you can pretty much cancel out any type of traveling other than by car.
In order to save as much money as possible you should try and car pool as efficiently as possible. This means getting as many people in one car as safely and comfortable as possible. This will help by allowing everyone to split the transportation cost in more ways.
Secondly you will need to arrange for the hotel room. Check to see how many people are allowed in one room. Most hotels allow 4 people to a room. Since you are trying to save some money it would be wise to pack 4 people into one room. Everyone should be able to still sleep comfortably while still saving a bunch of money.
Where you are going to save the most amount of money is on other expenses such as food. Normally you might be able to go out and have some nice dinners at restaurants. Well, not this spring break. Since you are going to be pinching your pennies you need to do everything you can to save a buck or two.
The best way to save money on food is by buying everything you need at the grocery store. Go ahead and when you first get to your destination stop by the grocery store and load up on stuff you can make at the hotel room. You should be able to buy plenty of food for the week and save lots of money.
While it may not be the most glamorous way to go on spring break, you can still have a blast. Be sure to follow some of these great tips on how to spring break on a budget.
