Sports Summer Camp for Kids
A sports summer camp is probably the best way to make your child an all-rounder so that he excels in studies as well as sports. To know more about sports summer camps, read on...
What are Sports Camps?
Sports camps are specially designed camps to provide training to children in a wide range of sports. These camps are supervised by trained professionals. The camps are conducted generally for 3-4 weeks, but may even stretch for more than 3 months. In USA, camps are divided into day camps and overnight camps.
Benefits of Sports Summer Camps
Sports camps in summer serve many purposes. They are not just a randomly chosen activity to stuff the summer holiday of an already stress-laden child. Sports camps are a meaningful way to channelize the energies of children. It gives them an opportunity to unlock their hidden potential. Sports camps develop team-spirit and help in the character building of children. Sports camps help the parents know more about their children - their strengths and weaknesses. Camps that are generally conducted away from cities help children to be in the vicinity of nature. We can call sports as a disciplined way of getting away from boredom.
Sports Activities
Number of sports activities are conducted in kids summer camps viz., soccer, baseball, tennis, volleyball, skating, roller hockey, cheer leading etc. It is better to let the child choose his favorite game; but a sport which suits the physical abilities and age of the child should be preferred. Thus, care should be taken that the kids are not bored of lengthy camps. In USA, most of the sports camps offer coaching in soccer, baseball, tennis, lacrosse and wrestling.
Important Facts to Know
Some sports camps are professional in their approach while others deal only with the basics. Specialized camps have rigorous training sessions than the others. If the child is not ready for such hard drills, it may take a toll on his body. It is therefore important to decide beforehand, which camp to choose, or it may lead to the child losing his interest in the camp itself.
Special Camps
A new concept of camps is taking root wherein both the kid and the parent get registered and spend time together in a family summer camp. Parents have an opportunity to observe how their children behave and interact with the society, which is not possible in schools due to strict rules and regulations. Working parents who don't get to spend quality time with their children see this as an excellent opportunity to bond with them.
Precautions to be Taken
No matter how interesting and adventurous a camp is, kids may land up in a difficulty if due care and precautions are not taken. Anti-allergic creams, mosquito repellents and sunscreens should be used. Make sure that kids drink filtered and boiled water during their stay at the camp. It is better that children in the camps are divided into groups as per their age. It helps them get accustomed to the new environment quickly. Also, the caretakers are able to handle children easily thereafter.
Finally, the camp should be a place for the kids to learn, implement, experience and grow. Lets hope, that the coming summer season brings out the best in your child.
