How to Get Spiral Curls
Things Required
- Small curling iron
- Brush
- Hairspray
Before you start curling your hair, make sure your hair is completely dry. For getting good spiral curls, it is necessary that you dry out your hair. If you have natural oily hair, then wash and dry your hair before curling. And if you have dry and fine hair, then you should curl your hair one day after the wash. This will help to add natural thickness to your hair. Comb your hair thoroughly and ensure that there are no tangles. Use a branded hairspray at the roots of your hair, before you start the curling process. This will help your hair to fall down easily without causing heaviness at the roots.
Be Equipped
Once you have washed and dried your hair completely, you are ready for curling them. To start with, first part your hair in the middle and make sections in your hair. You can make small sections that are half inch wide. Now, the size of the curl depends on the size of the barrel you use. For tight and short curls, use a barrel that has a width of one inch or less, while for larger and less tight curls, go for a barrel with 1½ inches width or 2 inches. It is recommended that you should use curling iron that has temperature control.
Start Curling
Before you get to know how to curl your hair, make a note that, for spiral curls you need to hold the iron in a vertical manner. Now, take a hair section and clasp your hair in the curling iron by holding it vertically. Clasp the hair near the root and about one inch above your scalp. Once you have clasped the hair near the root in the curling iron, turn the iron in a direction towards the end of your hair. Hold the curling iron in this position for few seconds. So, initially you have to curl your hair near you scalp and then work on the ends of your hair. In this step, first your clasp your hair, then roll some hair on the rod and then hold it.
Continue Curling
After holding the curl iron for few seconds, pull it a little towards the end of your hair and roll some more hair in the iron rod. Again hold the curl iron for some seconds and then pull it. So, clasp, roll, hold and pull, these are four basic repetitive steps that you must follow while curling your hair. Repeat these steps until you reach the end of the hair section. Once you are done with the first hair section, start curling remaining sections and get spiral curls from roots to end. You should curl small hair sections at a time to get well-defined curls.
