Spend my Life Away

Somehow, I didn't see it,
It came so sudden,
Like a speeding bullet.
Why did the end come so soon?

My mind is left reeling,
My heart so confused,
What is it that I'm feeling?
I can hardly answer...

I stand on the edge of a precipice,
To fall or not to fall?
If I fall... I certainly can't miss...
Or is it possible to fail at death as well?

It gave me quite a fright,
To think this way,
But, in the light
Of things, what else can I say?

I'm not usually this pessimistic,
But when someone says,
Take a pick,
Between life or death...

It's quite obvious what I chose,
Not the smartest, but,
No one knows
Why I picked so.

In the end,
Who cares.
It is my life to spend,
If only I was a smarter shopper...
