Spain's Costa Tropical Enjoying the Sun for Less

While planning your holiday it is important to choose a destination which is not only appealing but makes financial sense. Within Spain, there are countless destinations, some though are better vale than others.
As well as finding ways to limit the amount of money you give to banks and other financial institutions which we discussed in part one (Exchanging Pounds for Spanish holiday rentals) there are various other ways to limit the amount you spend. In this article we consider the most important of these which is the destination and in the following article we will look at the different options for accommodation.

Firstly, some people are fortunate enough to have friends or family living abroad, this may be the perfect time to pay them a visit and will at the same time determine both your holiday destination and accommodation If you do not have anyone that you can visit - or may be you already tried this last year, it is time to consider which holiday destination you should select. With only short and often disappointing summers in the UK those who do not want to leave their vacation to the mercy of the vagaries of the weather will need to consider destinations further away. Unless you can find a special offer on the Internet or in travel agents long-haul flights and exotic locations such as the Maldives, Thailand and Australia should be ignored this year. The Mediterranean due to its reliable climate, healthy lifestyle and friendly locals remains a popular destination but the cost of your vacation can vary greatly depending on where you choose to go within the Mediterranean.

In order to make an informed decision as to the best destination you should not only consider the large one-off costs such as flights and accommodation but all the incidentals such as meals, drinks, taxis and entertainment. If the location you have chosen is particularly well known the chances are you will be paying more than lesser visited areas close by. Failure to do so could lead to your holiday costing significantly more than if you had chosen a destination where prices are not inflated to take advantage of generous and well off tourists. In order to save money it is important to be selective about your holiday destination and many of the better known areas which you should possibly avoid if looking for a bargain are obvious such as the main tourist areas of the Algarve, around Marseilles, Capri and Portofino in Italy and Marbella in Spain are more expensive than other equally sunny and sometimes more interesting locations no further from the airport. If you want to mix with the jet set you will need to pay accordingly.

You can sometimes identify the best places to go by finding where the ordinary citizens of whichever country you are visiting go on holiday. The Costa Tropical in southern Spain attracts many thousands of typical Spanish families every summer and is a typical Spanish holiday destination. Known among local businesses for not spending lots of money on their holidays preferring to consume most of their meals at their holiday rental accommodation on the Costa Tropical the Spanish tourists to this area are aware of what they should pay for bottles of water, a glass of beer and their meals and they will not tolerate inflated tourist prices. In order to attract the Spanish tourists which make up the vast majority of visitors on the Costa Tropical the restaurants and cafes have to advertise prices that are competitive such as a beer and tapas (a snack) for a euro.

Finally, if you plan on flying, when considering the destination it is also a good idea to see which of the economy airlines fly to which airports and also check availability for the dates you want. To further save money it is best to research early on where the discount airlines fly to and find somewhere close to one of the routes which still has good seat availability on the flights.

Fortunately for international tourists the Costa Tropical is served by two international airports, both within an hours drive so without much fuss or delay holiday makers can be enjoying their well earned vacations at their rental apartments or holiday villas on the Costa Tropical.. There is a good selection of apartment rentals on the Costa Tropical and Costa Tropical villa rentals on the Andalusian coast south of the ancient Provincial capital of Granada, where you can visit the Alhambra Palace which is the second most popular tourist destination in Spain.
