- Phase I, of the diet spreads over two weeks. The aim is to get rid of insulin resistance in the most natural way. Foods that have high or even moderate glycemic carbohydrates are completely avoided. These include foods such as candies, bakery products, potatoes, fruits, grains and even cereals. A dieter can expect to lose about 8 to 13 pounds in this phase.
- Phase II is a return to a normal diet, though slowly, and in moderation. Wholegrain foods, cereals, fruits and vegetables are once again given in moderation. Once the dieter has reached the correct weight, then the last phase begins.
- Phase III is really a lifelong adjustment to a new way of healthy eating, where the dieter begins to introduce three servings of whole grains and fruits
