Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones an Entire Range of Pioneering Devices

Sony Ericsson Mobiles is a joint venture by Japanese consumer electronics company Sony Ericsson and Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson to make mobile phones. By 2008, Sony Ericsson mobile phones numbered the third largest in the world after Nokia and Samsung.
Generally speaking, any Sony Ericsson mobile is readily associated with good music capability and better sounding speakers for an enriched listening experience. Also these handsets are capable of taking decent quality pictures with better clarity and lively colours. After facing initial difficulty in breaking the ice and acquiring a profitable share in the global mobile phone market, sales of Sony Ericsson mobiles finally caught up with the launch of Sony's hugely popular Walkman and CyberShot adaptations in their mobiles.

On March 1, 2005, Sony Ericsson introduced the W800i, the first highly successful Walkman phone capable of 30 hours of music playback. It was a milestone success and it ensured a respectable position for Sony Ericsson mobile phones in the market. In 2006 Sony Ericsson sold 60 million music enabled handsets which clearly underlined the fact that it's products were more popular than Apple's iPods, which only sold 46 million units in that year.

Launched in 2005 by the introduction of the K750i, their CyberShot brand also saw huge success and popularity. It was an instant success because unlike Walkman phones, they came with a decent media center and a good camera. The Memory Card capability, a much desired feature of that time, was also a reason for the popularity of these phones. T

here was no looking back after this and Sony Ericsson went on to manufacture and introduce phones with high-end imaging capabilities. Announced in 2008, the Sony Ericsson C905 was the world's first 8-mega pixel camera. They also unveiled the first phone with a 12-mega pixel camera, the Sony Ericsson Satio at Mobile World Congress 2009.

Presently Sony Ericsson phones are categorised into different brands. Apart from the Walkman and CyberShot brands, there are BRAVIA, UIQ and XPERIA brands. While with BRAVIA branded phones one is able to watch 1 seg terrestrial television, the XPERIA range integrates the Windows Mobile Operating System into Sony Ericsson smartphones. The UIQ series is a range of smartphones and are notable for their touchscreens, QWERTY keypads and UIQ interface from Symbian OS.

However there are also many other models that are aimed at the low-end market. These classification of Sony Ericsson mobile phones is broadly based on their capabilities- namely music, camera, business (web and Emailing capability), design, all-rounder and budget based models. Sony Ericsson has always been at the forefront in integrating newer technologies into their mobiles and frequently keep upgrading their line of devices and accessories.
