Sony Ericsson G900 Joins O2 UK - Touchscreen Sony G900
The first and only Sony mobile phone with a touchscreen and 5.0 megapixel camera has now been released in the UK. We review the new Sony Ericsson G900 and discover its features, design and technology.
The Sony G900 is a candy bar format design handset with an easy to use central navigational button for exploring the menu, it looks very much like the recently launched Sony Ericsson C902 but the biggest difference between the models is the touchscreen technology of the G900.
The Sony Ericsson G900 lets the user choose how they want to use their phone, make a call, listen to a song or visit a Web site, with the G900 it is simple and straight forward. Use the key control - or just touch the screen with a finger to make things happen. What people can do with a pen and paper, they can do with the new Sony G900.
Press the Notes key and use the stylus to write in your own handwriting, quick and easy, no keyboard needed. The inclusion of a 5.0 megapixel camera lets users take print-quality photos, whilst setting the pictures focus area is as easy as touching the screen. Take a photo, then share - blog it, email it, send it to friends.
The Sony G900 also features Bluetooth 2.0 which is the next generation of Bluetooth connectivity. With Bluetooth 2.0 one of the biggest advantages is the possibility of listening to music with a compatible wireless headset in stereo. Less wires, less mess, more noise.
With Wi-Fi the Sony Ericsson G900 on O2 can connect to a local wireless network (W-LAN) to connect to the internet, this offers a cheap (sometimes free) method of connecting to the internet to download emails, files, or check on websites and blogs.
Other features of the new Sony Ericsson G900 include an FM Radio for keeping up to date with the latest music, news, weather and sports, a music player for storing and listening to favorite tracks and albums, an email client for keeping in touch electronically and support for RSS feeds keeping the user abreast of the latest information from blogs and websites.
Initially launched on O2 in the UK the Sony G900 is expected to be rolled out onto further network operators in the very near future, for now the handset is enjoying an exclusive launch period with O2 so tariffs and deals can be limited.
This initial release period can last from a few days up to a month or so but demand for such a high specification handset will make sure that independent retailers soon start to import their own stocks and the packages and offers will soon start to filter through.
