Something About... - Prologue

Prologue of my new story.
** This is just something to get you guys going! It is a sneak peek of my new story and I would love to hear the feedback on it whether or not you guys would be interested in reading more or not. this is the basis I am hoping to write and publish a full length book on. What I will post here is like a prequel.

I won't start posting for a while as I want to get a bunch of chapters done first, but I would like to get this out there and get some feedback. thanks!!***

Prologue

You and I

Faeryn walked quietly into the abandoned tavern. Except that in the dead silence of the ghost town her every step became magnified. Her every breath sounded like a deep rush of wind. Her light sigh seemed to echo. The batwing doors creaked back and forth behind her, trying to find their resting place.

Her dusty boots kicked up even bigger clouds of dust with each echoing clack on the hardwood floor of the old Edge Of The World tavern. Or what remained of it. She ran her finger lightly over the keys of the piano. Her finger lifted dust as she produced an out of tune ring of all the keys.

She sat down in her old corner of the room. At her table, in her chair. Even though the world had changed not once, but twice. It still felt right for her to sit in that chair. It still felt natural.

There was only one thing missing. Only one person. Faeryn knew that he hadn't changed along with the rest of the world, only that things had changed enough for him to not be serving her a cold beer here at her favorite table in the Edge Of The World.

Faeryn wasn't quite sure how long it had been since she sat in this chair, but she knew it had been a long time, what seemed like forever. Yet, she could still feel the cold head of the beer drip down onto her hand, smell the cigar smoke, taste the whiskey in his kiss.

There was just something about that place.
