A lot of Starware's victims don't even know where and when that starware toolbar was there in their browser. Well, it's most likely that you have your browser security setting to low. Remember on the Tool tab of your IE > Internet Option > Security > Custom Level Tab, you will find a few level of choice that you can choose. If you set this too high, you'll have problem accessing some sites that doesn't meet your browser requirements and will always come across a pop up asking whether or not you would like to continue viewing the page and the likelihood of some threats if you click yes.

Therefore, some people just set it so low in order to avoid irritating pop ups like that but this might endangered your PC. I personally prefer Firefox over IE as they have better security feature and the tab browsing facility. * Torrent Sites / Warez: This is another form of file sharing that a community constantly share files, photos, videos etc. by uploading and exchanging among each other. They might not purposely upload files with viruses, Trojan, Starware or spyware to harm you, but the chances are things like this get spread really fast and unknowing to the user unless he / she scan his / her PC very often with a good spyware and antivirus software. So, everytime that you downloaded something online, make it a practice to scan with your antivirus and spyware removal tools to ensure that the file is virus and spyware free before you even open the containing files.

* Fishy Websites: Some websites are very questionable in nature. The moment the page load, you'll find tons of advertisements and pop ups and some with funny flash design. Don't you see the resemblance of it? Site like these always bring Starware, Trojans, spyware, and adware that may be automatically downloaded and installed onto your PC. If you were logon your email service, you'll start getting spam email as well. I've experience getting spam emails of the same subject of those fishy websites that I visited the day before even though I didn't subscribed for any newsletter from those sites. Do you see that? They captured you email address and start spamming you. That's how dangerous it is without a good spyware tool.

Okay, I hope my experiences can save you from these malicious and dangerous Starware / spyware thing. Just practice safer online habits to avoid Starware infection and the like. But I strongly urge you to get a reliable spyware removal tool that updated frequently to guarantee a better surfing experience.
