Somalis appeal to Turkey and Egypt to save Somalia

Abdillahi Ahmed, Vice President of the World Somali Congress: I am appealing to the governments of our historical allies, Turkey and Egypt, who used to stand by our side in times like this to support the Somali people.
In two articles ‘Peace and Unity in Somalia – One Way Ticket to Africa’s Future’ (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/peace-and-unity-in-somalia-one-way-ticket-to-africa-future.html) and ‘World Somali Congress Vice-President Abdillahi Ahmed: No to premeditated destruction of Somalia’ (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/world-somali-congress-vice-president-abdillahi-ahmed-no-to-premeditated-destruction-of-somalia.html), we published the two parts of the interview we had with Mr. Abdillahi Ahmed, Vice President of the World Somali Congress, while as preamble we focused on the Mission and the Principles of the World Somali Congress. In the present article, with the last part of the interview, we complete the series.

Interview with Mr. Abdillahi Ahmed, Vice President of the World Somali Congress – Part III

– To what extent are you happy with the Indian foreign policy in the case of Somalia?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Indian foreign policy toward Africa is not very clear yet. We
share a vast ocean, and ages-long commercial relationship with India; I have
doubts as to what India could contribute now.

– Taking into consideration the recent deals between the unrepresentative Transitional President of Somalia, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, and the Chinese state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), should we conclude that the Chinese cynical and immoral political realism will be successful in both, drastically reducing the European colonial grip over Africa, and effectively outmaneuvering Washington’s African dream? Do you think China has an interest to get further involved in Somalia? How? On whose side?
Abdillahi Ahmed – The Somalis have a good feeling about the Chinese people and their government. They believe Chinese government can be and should be an honest broker in the current Somali situation.

– Do you think that Chinese interests in Somalia are in straightforward opposition the interests of both, India and the US?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Somalis had long relationship with China. We believe Chinese government should respect Somalis and Somali interest better than any
other country. China was always, and still is a great friend of Somali people and their government.

– Following clashes with Puntland’s armed forces, Somaliland seems to have won a battle in Las Anod; is this, an important development? Does the situation in the North turn in favor of Somaliland? Or by acting like this, is the secessionist and unrecognized country being engulfed into tribal conflicts?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Somalis are not ready to kill each other. Abyssinian expansionism is behind all this mayhem. Somaliland is only bushing Abyssinian interest. The events in the North are also a diversion of the global interest that had been focalized on the current situation in the Somali south. At the same time, these developments consist in a preparation for the next step, namely the further, generalized occupation of Somalia. We hope that people of conscience from allover the world will react to the situation, and stop this madness. Somaliland knows it cannot and will never succeed, as neither the Somalis nor the world’s most influential decision making centers and powers do not want to break up Somalia.

– To come back to earlier developments, how do you see the emergence of Maakhir state in the North, between Somaliland and Puntland?
Abdillahi Ahmed – People have the right to express their opinion and can form governments, associating with them whomever they feel best and are content with. Both, Somaliland and Puntland, failed to convince the people of that area that their interest lies with them. People should choose their best interest without fear of any retribution.

Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed

– How do you see the emergence of Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed as leader of the ARS in the Asmara meeting last September? Do you find a difference between the Islamic Courts of Justice and the newly emerged ARS? What are your expectations in this regard?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and his comrades succeeded something 33 countries and the UN failed to bring for Somalis, because they were not honest about their actions. They brought a six-month period of well-awaited peace; people who witnessed it said that it had worth equivalent to 60 years! If they keep their steadfastness and are honest about their actions, the final victory will be theirs.

– The battle at Mogadishu, re-kindled, entered a new phase. How do you characterize this insurgence? National? Islamist? Do you expect a military defeat of the Ethiopian forces? What would the consequences be?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Every Somali person fighting in this war is against the US-Abyssinian occupation. I believe the Mogadishu fighters are exercising their rightful obligation to defend themselves; this is a legitimate defense, and the final Victory is our common goal. Insha’Allaah, we will defeat the aggressors, thus breaking down fake ‘Ethiopia’.

– The resignation of the Transitional Prime Minister of Somalia made the headlines a while back; is it something more important than divergence of two unrepresentative politicians of the old guard?
Abdillahi Ahmed – To the Somalis, all this does not mean anything, the new guard will replace the old; these guys are mere gangs fighting over spoils.

Ogaden – Darfur: two Genocides in 21st century Africa

– Are there analogies between Darfur and Ogaden? Is there a real fear for ethnic cleansing in Ogaden?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Yes, genocide is being now committed in Ogaden (Somalia West). Ethnic cleansing is taking place as we speak, and the other aspects of the multifaceted and well-planned Ogaden suicide involve the burning of entire villages, incredible mass raping young and old alike, persistently enforced starvation, extrajudicial killings in great numbers, and all this is happening with the full support of the American administration.

– Is there an interconnection between the deterioration in Ogaden and the Amhara - Tigray tribal invasion of Somalia? How do you see future developments in the Horn of Africa region through the viewpoint of this interconnection?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Off course there is a very clear connection, the oppressed Muslims in the Horn of Africa region have been gravely offended by the developments in Somalia. The future of Horn of Africa will depend on the continuation or not of the US-Abyssinian aggressiveness and the related agenda.

– It has been recently revealed that the tyrannical regime of the Tigray Abyssinian chieftain Meles Zenawi prepares plans for a permanent multi-division of Somalia; do you think the allegations are correct and the plans are real? If so, what do you advise as best way for the Somalis to face the challenge and defeat the Abyssinian dictator?
Abdillahi Ahmed – I believe that that plan existed already before the pseudo-reconciliation conference in Kenya 2004. The ARS and the Somali people are aware of the plan and have taken proper action to outmaneuver it. History records demonstrate that we have always defeated the Abyssinians and there isn’t going to be any difference this time. Abyssinians will be defeated and deeply humiliated; and in addition, they will be totally disintegrated in the near future.

– How do you envision a National Unity of Somalia; is there a secret path to it that remained unknown to all thus far?
Abdillahi Ahmed – Somalis know that they have no choice but unity. It is our human instinct; united we stand, In addition, the Islamic courts prove that the Somalis do not need reconciliation for unity, because we were not at war. We were separated, and thus became hostage to the ensued situation.

Inhuman, merciless Abyssinian Junta

– How do you evaluate the Human Rights deterioration in Abyssinia? Beyond Ogaden, to what extent do you think that the Somalis should today coordinate with the long tyrannized Sidamas, Anuak, Oromos, Afars, and - not to forget - the oppressed Amhara and Tigray Muslims?
Abdillahi Ahmed – The term ‘Human Rights’ itself is foreign to the numerous peoples throughout that region, as they have been systematically deprived from them. Only the Abyssinian Junta has rights, and they want to impose as socio-economic and political choice whatever evil plan they may come to conceive – without anyone resisting and rejecting. As a matter of fact, the numerous peoples of the Horn of Africa region have long been subjected to brutal occupation, with no outside help beyond Somalia.

Somalia was the only country that since 1960 was standing by them and opposed that brutal regime, under any form (monarchical, communist or pseudo-republican / bogus-federation). United with all the political forces and military groups, we all have to work together to defeat the tyrannical Abyssinian regime. It’s do or die.

Appeal to Turkey and Egypt

In guise of conclusion, I want to say that we strongly believe that as the Tigray tribal group is integral part of the problem, the solution to the mess in the Horn of Africa region is the liberation of all the other ethnic groups from the Abyssinians.

Finally, I am calling upon all conscious and peace loving people to support us in this crucial time. More particularly, I am appealing to the governments of our historical allies, Turkey and Egypt, who used to stand by our side in times like this to support the Somali people. I ask the international communities to deliver as soon as possible urgently needed food and medicine to the people who have been indiscriminately expelled from their homes because of the Abyssinian bombardment, either in Somalia itself or in the illegally occupied Somali territory of Ogaden.
