I can remember during my college days, when I was not abling to sleep due to waste uncontrolled thoughts and harmful dreams, I started practicing meditation and changed my lifestyle.

Meditation helps an individual to be have balanced personality. The techniques of meditation should be practiced to explore and enhance the inner abilities, hidden strengths and latent powers to cope with stress and tension in the present world. Meditation helps in taking right decision and to solve the personal, organizational and family problems. The practice of meditation acts like panacea towards problems of life.

Meditation is a scientific technique in which a person connects his mind and intellect with an ocean of positive source of energy, power and purity. Meditation is the art of connecting mind and intellect with the Supreme Father, who is the destroyer of all the obstacles. Meditation is an art of remembering Almighty Father. It does not need to sit in proper posture or to have proper place to meditate, in initial days of practice it is essential, with practice one can remember Divine point of light the God during normal day to day activities.

As a lover remembers his lover or a mother remembers her child, one can remember the ocean of love, Sweet Supreme Father as a near and dear. But that need understanding of the Sweet Supreme Father. One can practice meditation as managing all the worldly responsibilities. In spite of official duties, normal day to day activities, and even during laying on bed one can remember one’s Father. One should remember God as the positive sources of energy as a protector, ocean of love, peace and purity.

As such originally an individual fond of peace, happiness, bliss, purity, love and knowledge, these are one’s original property and nature. Tension, irritation, anger, hatred and jealousy are acquired properties under the influence of vices. Through the practice of concentration of thoughts, purity and virtues one can derive immense mental strength and stability. We should integrate meditation in our regular lifestyle.

Meditation makes one fortunate

As a convex lens helps in focusing the rays of Sun to particular points which generates intense heat energy, which can burn any combustible materials, similarly meditation helps in focusing positive thoughts to have the determination to get rid of weaknesses.

As fire helps in purifying the elements by burning or melting it, meditation burns the vices, disturbing thoughts and habits, uncontrolled impulses of a person. Meditation helps in focusing the thoughts on Divine point of Light, the source of positive energies. The focused thoughts helps in generating psychological energy for burning and purification of negative attitude, traits, mood, impure characteristics and character.

As science can transform ores and waste into valuable things, the power of silence the meditation makes one life invaluable. It makes one realizes about one's immense strength and talents. Weaknesses are the seed of problems in the life. They invite misfortunes in one’s life. As gold is purified under the fire, similarly positive remembrance through meditation helps in separating the alloys of impure thoughts and weaknesses from the original pure one.

Meditation and sleep disorder

Meditation gives wonderful solution to insomnia. I can remember during my college days, when I was not able to sleep due to waste uncontrolled thoughts and harmful dreams, I started practicing meditation and changed my lifestyle. I was sleeping by 10.30 pm and was waking up at 4 p.m. for study and exercises. Early morning hours used to be calm, cool and salubrious, good for study, meditation and exercises. During those days before going to bed I was reading some spiritual books and was meditating for 10 minutes .Believe me insomnia which seems to be incurable and unending in my life but meditation and good books helps me to regain my sound and sweet sleep within a few days . Meditation checks the sleep disorder gives a lot of mental and physical relaxation with just 5 to 6 hours of sound sleep.

Our negative thoughts disturbs our sleep pattern and make our mind and body tired. As we know mind has effect on body, our thoughts used to control the glands, secretion of hormones and heartbeat. Positive and controlled thoughts keep our hormone system proper. The waste and negative thoughts, depression affects the body functionalities and causes psychosomatic diseases. The power of silence helps to treat the mental diseases of depression, hopelessness, low self esteem and low self confidence. It makes mind stronger, unshakable and stable .One can get rid of all the psychosomatic diseases such as blood pressure, migraine, heart attack, asthma, hysteria, etc by making one’s mind pure, stable and calm. That does not mean one should not take medicine but meditation is form of mental exercise that keeps a person psychologically fit and flexible and enables the recovery faster.

Mental obesity and tiredness

The word "mental obesity", I learned from Brahma Kumaries Organisation. In today world many people are suffering from the obesity and fatness related diseases reason of obesity is lack of exercise and the fatty oily food. And according to the doctor the obesity is the reason of many diseases. Though the word mental obesity seems to be new but mental obesity is the obesity of mental health, which is quite similar in origin to physical obesity. Now a day many people are suffering from the mental obesity as a result they are getting tired with little psychological activities or labor. Due to mental obesity, mind and intellect is getting inflexible, lethargic and inefficient symptoms are quite similar which affect physical obesity on the body. Mental obesity is the root cause of mental diseases. The causes of mental obesity are food of waste thoughts and lack of mental exercises.

Meditation is an art of exercising mind and intellect which keeps both of them fit and fine to act perfectly in carrying out psychological labor, mental activities and decision making. Meditation not only increases memory power but also increases speed of reading and assimilating a subject.

Meditation cools down temptation enhance self restraint and gives rest to mind

Meditation restricts the forces of evil and waste thoughts, cools down the temptation of organs as a result one enhances the self restraint and self control. Meditation helps one to be morally and ethically strong. Meditation helps in understanding the mind of other and catching their thoughts which helps one satisfying the emotional need of team members or near and dear with moral restraint.

Meditation helps to apply theories to practical life

We may have a lot of knowledge but meditation helps us applying those knowledge into action. Scientific theories are useful when technology helps in applying the theories in solving the human problems. Similarly we had listened to many lectures on moral values and ethics, but we lack the power and understanding to apply them in real life. It is observed that human being surrenders himself to weakness and vices in real life situation in spite of knowledge of ethics. Meditation empowers one to apply theories into practice which gives infinite joy and happiness.

Mediation ,creativity and relaxation of mind

Meditation helps in generating new ideas, the person sitting in silence with undisturbed and focus mind generates and catches ample of new ideas, which are essential for creativity and innovation. Through Meditation one can focus thoughts and abilities on particular task, without getting disturbed . Meditation enhances the quality and energy of thoughts, which relaxes mind and body.

Meditation practitioner understands the game of life and its rules and techniques to score the goal, in spite of all the hurdles and barriers on the way. Life is as interesting and exciting as the game we should play with fun , but need to take care of rules and regulation. But we need to understand the rule and nature of the game through knowledge, passion, and meditation.

Here meditation does not mean the Hata Yoga or physical posture but Raja Yoga in which one needs to learn the art of connecting and concentrating mind and intellects with Positive source of energy, Supreme Soul.

But to practice meditation one should follow the following 4 points:

1- Vegetarian Foods
2- Divine virtues such as patience, fearlessness, compassion, courage, determination, purity, contentment, sweetness
3- Should abstain from vulgar printed materials, books, cinemas, bad companions which disturbs and pollute human life and mind.
4- Celibacy, disciplined and ascetic life.

Above things are easy one can easily practice in his worldly and family life but one should realize the gain . There is no pain in giving up those vices and evil traits as they relieve one from diseases, miseries, pain and mental disturbances and misfortunes.

Last 18 years I am practicing meditation in Brahma Kumaries organization. They are teaching Rajayoga, their method is easy and systematic. They are having branches throughout world and they teach free of cost.
