Dimensions of a Soccer Goal

The official dimensions of a soccer goal are a bit different to understand and you might need to refer to a diagram to do so. A rectangle that is 18 yards long which is known as a penalty box or area, lies before the goal. The goal keeper cannot touch the ball beyond this area and if a foul occurs within this area, a penalty is handed out. The penalty box lies at position which is equidistant from both the sides. The goal lies inside the penalty box. The goal is actually located on goal line, according to standard regulation. The dimensions are 7.32 meters (24.01575 feet) in width, 2.44 meters (8.00525 feet) in height. The attackers have to basically hit the ball through this rectangle.

Variants of Soccer Goal Dimensions

There are some variants of the dimensions of the box of the goal. The middle school soccer goal is 6.5 feet high and 18 feet wide. High school soccer goals, on the other hand, are 8 feet high and 24 feet wide. The national and international games are, however, played with the standard 24.01575 by 8.00525 feet goals.
