Snowy Day Activities

Cooped up in the house all day because its snowy outside and you've got nothing to do? What you need are snowy day activities to liven up such a dampening weather condition...
For those of you who enjoy being out on a winter's day but are stuck at home because of the heavy snowfall, will be glad to know that there are ways to make use of this time. It's drab and cold, and all you can do is sit dejectedly at home while your plans go down the drain. But needn't be the case. If anything, the winter season is a fun time of making use of something that comes but once a year, with people in the hottest places of the world willing to give an arm and a leg to have such frigid conditions enshrouding them.

Activities for a Snowy Day

These snowy day activities are a ton of fun to squeeze into a day or entire weekend where the snow gets the best of the weather conditions in your town.

Building an Igloo
If you've never tried this out before, then here's your chance to give it a shot. All you need is a creative and flexible imagination, that is open to building something that may seem complicated, but is in fact an actually pretty easy job to complete. All you need are the right tools and a lot of snow, to build yourself an idyllic igloo.

Making Mr. Snow Man
Putting one of these together is absolute fun. All you need is a lot of snow (and a pair of warm mitts) to help yourself pack together chunks of snow to build your very own snow man. Get the complete outfit by supplying your snowy friend with a woolen cap, muffler, a pair of gloves for its outstretched arms, and of course stones for eyes and a long makeshift nose to affix on his face, complete with a pebbly smile.

Snow Sliding / Sledding
I'm sure if you looked hard enough among some rubble or old storage items, you'll find old planks lying around that are pretty sturdy to take on the weight of a person. Try interesting techniques like sliding off mini snow mountains or going down bumpy slopes, or even trying to go pro by balancing on these and pretending they were snowboards (adult supervision for kids is needed). You could even put together a little competition to see who reaches the bottom first and manages to still stay on the plank. If you do have snow sliding / sledding equipment (which you can otherwise easily buy from stores), then you wouldn't have to use planks to help you slide down snow hills and such.

Snowball Fights
This is the one thing that people look forward to when the snowy months approach, and is considered probably the funnest of all winter activities that anyone could think up besides of course snowboarding. You can try splitting up big groups into two and pretend it were like a game of paint ball with the opponents battling it out in snow to bring down their opposing team members. It's a great way to keep yourself charged up and adrenaline-pumping from the get-go; definitely something I'd love to try out if dropped into a snow ridden land.

It can be a tad frustrating to have plans canned last-minute because of a snow storm or a heavy forecast of snow, but using the time to your advantage is what makes all the difference. Have a fun snowy day.
