Hey guys! Hello! An update...in a hurry and gottta run...sorry! :D Will chat with you sweethearts later! *muah*
Aditya woke up in the morning with a jolt. He couldn’t believe that he had slept so soundly and when he woke up, he almost expected to be in his own bedroom with his wife calling him to wake up. It took his brain a few seconds to register that the wife was dead along with the lover she had tragically taken and he was on the run with a young, vulnerable hostage. He glanced at Nisha and saw that she too was sleeping soundly. She had emerged from the barricade of sheets and her face looked so peaceful with her tangled black locks falling over her bruised face.
Despite not wanting to, his eyes fixated themselves on Nisha as she slept. She was so innocent and delicate- how any man could beat her was beyond him. He wanted to touch her milky white skin and reassure her that she was safe with him, as ironic as that seemed. At that moment, Aditya shook himself out of that weak moment and admonished himself.
"No Adi- this is not the time or place…" he muttered to himself as he got up. He went to the window and peered out. All the hustle bustle of the night had calmed but as he peered out, he felt uneasy. Something just felt strange- too calm, and he decided that they should leave immediately.
"Nisha get up!" he called out and she immediately obeyed. Twenty minutes later, they were back on the road.
"Ok we will stop for gas and food at the next stop…" he said. "…and please behave yourself this time…"
She nodded her head and looked around. She had no idea where she was and was scared to think where he would leave her when she was no longer required. She pondered whether she should ask him and decided that she should ask him anyway.
"Err- when you are done with me, where will you leave me?" she asked.
Aditya smiled at the question, "I will leave you in safe hands, and don’t worry. I will drop you at the border patrol office and they will ensure that you reach home safely."
Satisfied at the answer, she looked ahead and started to doze off. He stopped soon and they got off to do their shopping. A white haired man was already in the shop and Nisha walked around him to pick up her drink. She bumped into him and apologized. He looked at her and stared.
"Nisha?" he whispered.
Nisha looked at him and froze. Who was he?
"I am the police…" he whispered with a hungry eye on Aditya. "Just relax and stay with me…"
Nisha was alarmed. She didn’t even know the stranger's name, didn’t know why he did what he did but she felt strangely protective of him at that point. If he was caught, he would be jailed or even killed.
She stared at the man with open eyes as he called someone on his mobile. His eyes were still on Aditya and she took the chance and ran. She ran straight to Aditya, grabbed him by the hand and rushed out leaving Inspector Davis gaping.
Aditya was totally taken by surprise- his sandwich and drink still in his hand.
"What are you doing?" he asked. They reached the car and got in.
"Just go- now!!" Nisha screamed.
Aditya started the car and reached down the track still bemused. Nisha looked back scared as a cat caught in the headlights of a car when she saw the flashing light of a police car.
"Damn it..." she said.
Aditya saw the lights too and still confused, raced on.
Davis gave chased them, his head spinning with questions. Why had she run out with him- she seemed well so maybe she was not a hostage after all. Or maybe she had fallen for the handsome man. Whatever it was, he had to catch them.
Aditya swerved and veered as he tried to lose the police car but Davis showed no signs of giving up. Ten minutes into the high speed chase, Aditya thanked God that he had filled the car with gas before going in for the food. He veered into the smallest of lanes, hid on driveways, only to find Davis again at the next corner.
Nisha was scared- but not just for her life also for his. She knew what he had done but he had been nothing but decent to her since they had met. He had cared about her and at that moment when she had stood face to face with her freedom, she knew she would take Aditya's hand over it. And she had done just that. Why- she had no idea but she would not trade in her life for his. She trusted that he would let her go at the end- but she wanted that end to celebrate his freedom too- not his incarceration or death.
They raced on and suddenly as they turned yet another corner, Davis lost them. He banged the steering wheel in frustration and carried on searching. Little did he know that as he looked on the small roads, Aditya had turned off this route and was distancing himself from the veteran.
