Smoothies: A Sweet and Helathy Breakfast

Smooth Recipes for your whole family to try!
If you have ever tried to lose weight, you have been through all those morning "breakfast" drinks that are suppose to quench your appetite as well as cut the calories. The taste of such drinks is not always the most appetizing. Instead of buying into the morning energy drink, why not take a step back and make yourself a delicious smoothie.

Smoothies are not only great to drink in the mornings, but extremely healthy. You can make a smoothie out of most anything. You can create more healthy smoothies by adding more fruit and cutting back on the ice cream or yogurt. For different textures you can add vitamin supplements, wheat grass, or protein powder.

So although you can make your own smoothies, here are a couple smoothie recipe suggestions for you to try:

14-Carrot Smoothie Recipe

For the ultra health smoothie try this carrot based smoothie. You will need half a cup of soft silken tofu, cold carrot juice, and grated carrots, a cup of frozen vanilla, two tablespoons of frozen orange juice concentrate, a tablespoon of lemon juice, a fourth teaspoon of grated ginger root, a pinch of salt, and three tablespoons of pumpkin seeds. First blend that tofu, juice, and carrots in the blender to get these heavy ingredients down to a manageable consistency. Then add the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger, pumpkin seeds and salt to the mix. Blend until smooth and serve cold. This will make about two and a half cups of smoothie.

Adios Anemia Recipe

Another great health smoothie is this Adios Anemia recipe, and you guessed it, it is high in iron to combat Anemia. This smoothie requires a half cup of low fat vanilla yogurt, a cup of vanilla soy milk, a half cup of pitted prunes, a frozen banana, and two or three ice cubes.

Blue Witch’s Brew Recipe

If you want to make a fun smoothie, rich in color and taste this might be the best choice. Blend two and a half cups of fresh or frozen blueberries, a cup and a half of apple juice, a cup of vanilla ice cream, a fourth cup of milk, and a table spoon of ground cinnamon. The bluish purple of this smoothie is great to lure the kids in for a try and to promote healthier eating (and drinking) for the whole family!

Smoothies are a great way to jump start your day and start health each morning.
