Slumdog Millionaire Now at the Grammys

A.R. Rahman has been nominated for 2 Grammy Awards.
In February earlier this year, Slumdog Millionaire swept 8 Oscar Awards. Out of those, A.R. Rahman won 2 awards for Best Music (Song) and Best Music (Score) respectively. The movie received mixed reactions in India, and was also part of controversy, bit it was a rage worldwide. With this film, the already popular Indian movie industry known as Bollywood, made its real presence felt in all of Hollywood, and also all over the globe. Through the Oscars, A.R. Rahman became a household name all over the world.

Now Mr. Rahman, the film composer, record producer, musician, and singer, is doing it again. And it is for the same movie, Slumdog Millionaire. He has been nominated for 2 Grammy Awards this year, the finals which are scheduled to be held on January 31, 2010. This is the first time the music maestro has been nominated for the prestigious music award, and this will only add to his joy after the Oscars. He has been nominated for - Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media and Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

Besides his Oscar and Grammy achievements, A.R. Rahman has won 13 Filmfare Awards, 4 National Film Awards, 1 BAFTA Award, and 1 Golden Globe Award. If we put together all of his film songs, albums, singles, etc., totally he has managed to sell close to 500 million copies worldwide, making him one of the all-time top selling recording artists in the world. TIME magazine went on to call him the "Mozart of Madras". This genius is just 43 years old, and one can just imagine what all he has in store for us in the years and decades to come.
