Why go for store-bought ones, when you can prepare slime at home? Here are some easy and simple recipes for making slime.

Easy Slime Recipe for Kids
This is one of the simplest ways of making slime at home. For this purpose, you require half a cup of cornstarch, two cups of water and a few drops of food coloring. Take a pan and boil the water in it. Slowly add cornstarch to the boiling water, followed by the food coloring. Usually, the color of slime is light green. However, you may use any color of your choice. If you are looking for a green slime recipe, all you have to do is to add green food coloring. Make sure to stir the mixture constantly, so as to prevent formation of lumps. Remove from heat and allow it to cool. If the slime is too runny, add more cornstarch and stir well. If it is found to be thick, then add hot water, so as to get the desired consistency. You may also store the slime in a zip lock bag, if you want to use it after sometime. This is to ensure that the slime remains moist.
How to Make Edible Slime
Edible slime is a very good option for kids, especially, for young ones, who always tend to put anything and everything in their mouth. There are many different types of edible slime that can be prepared at home, but those with chocolate will definitely attract kids. In order to prepare edible chocolate slime, you need two tablespoons of chocolate syrup, one can (14 ounce) of sweetened condensed milk and one or two tablespoons of cornstarch. Place a pan over low heat and add chocolate syrup and condensed milk into it. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the mixture and gently stir, till the mixture thickens and reaches the consistency of slime. Remove from heat and use it when the mixture cools. You may also store it in the refrigerator for a day or two.
Slime Recipe With Borax
As per this recipe, you need one teaspoon borax, 120 ml white glue, 360 ml water and a few drops of food color. Take a bowl and mix the white glue and water in equal amounts (120 ml). Keep it aside and take another bowl, in which, you have to add the remaining water to a teaspoon of borax. Mix the borax solution well before adding the glue solution and food coloring to it. Make it a point to add the glue solution at a very slow pace, while you stir the borax solution. Combine them well, till it is no more sticky. Your homemade slime is ready. You may store this slime in a plastic container or zip lock bag. If you are not interested in using borax, then, opt for the above said slime recipes without borax.
If you want to make silly putty, mix half teaspoon each of Epsom salts and water in a bowl and mix them well (till salt dissolves) before keeping aside. Take a tablespoon of white glue in a bowl and add the Epsom salt solution into it. Stir it continuously, till the formation of putty, which can be stored in zip lock bag.
Now, you have a basic understanding about how to make slime at home. You can either make it for the kids or ask them to do it on their own. They will definitely enjoy this activity that will be perfect for rainy days.
