Slightly Demonic and Dangerously Evil [Chapter Eight]

Sorry it took so long.
Electra could feel the power inside her pulsing, the heat from her body trying to work its way to the surface. She wanted to release it, release the strain that was now tightening within her.
She could sense, taste, and see everything, clearer, sharper, and more pungently then before. It was an indescribable experience, something so significantly unique that the word to describe it was on the tip of your tongue, but then it disappeared.

She was different.
She had the urge to kill running through her veins, the power of it so strong that it was like a knife being shoved into her. Painful to deny, but regretfully urgent to resist.
She wasn’t a killer. She hadn’t gotten that far in this life to become one.

Then she smelled it.
The pungent smell of burning flesh, and old blood. It floated towards her from the wind, the smell so surprisingly strong that when she inhaled again she could count the bodies.
One-hundred-twenty-five.
Then she heard the inhuman screams that scratched along the glass buildings of down town Chicago. She could sense, when she closed her eyes and let the sound waves over take her, the images of the demons that caused such death and destruction in her minds eye. They were shapeless, shadows as the world would have called them. Only shadows didn’t cause destruction such as this, shadows didn’t kill savagely.
She felt, no touched, that in someway they were bound to someone, or something, but that something wasn’t human, it had a distinct smell of power surrounding it…and it was moving fast coming this way.
Suddenly music floated to her ears, the song bringing her to a focusing point.
"It’s easy to…" the voice sang. "Forget who you are…In this business of… Paper stars…."

She didn’t know why it was those lyrics and that song that came to her. It was the irony of it all that made her smile, but knowledge let her know it looked more like a sneer.
She watched in her minds eye as the car the music came from veered sharply off the car crashed highway, and off the road into a deep ditch. She could hear the screams coming from inside the car. God this was madness.

Dark shadows were slithering towards her; she knew they weren’t going to touch her, just like she knew who they were following. The power she held over the things was shocking, it was as if she owned the darkness. Owned the faceless, shadowed creatures that all seemed to appear to be kneeling towards her.
"My Liege," One spoke, the liquidly velvet voice traced over her skin, and made her blood sizzle. Power was in that voice, desperate, uncontrolling power. "How may we serve you?"

"Stop this," She said, in a voice that didn’t sound like her own.
"We cannot stop what has already begun," The silver voice said again. "Only you can.
She didn’t understand, even to the full extent of her thinking that moment, she did not understand. "How?"
"You must go back." The silver voice said again, sliding forward towards her, as if to show her the way.
"In time?" She asked stupidly.
"Yes," They said, seeming to stand up to full height now which overwhelmed her. "Hold your palm out to the sky and concentrate on what you want to go back to." His voice became sarcastic then, almost as if he wasn’t facing a fire breathing, tentacled woman, but talking to a duce of a kid. "I would recommend the night your parents died. Do not ask me why," The silent voice said cutting off any questions Electra might have voiced. "But you must, now, concentrate," And Electra did. She felt her body shift back to human form, could feel the power inside her growing, watched in her minds eye as the images before her rewound…

They rewound faster, almost at a blur, until the images stopped and she was standing in her old house outside Bath, England just before her parents were attacked. Electra’s parents looked as if they’d been having a teasing conversation, utterly unaware of the danger that was about to happen. She stepped forward and everything switched to reality.
"Electra!" Her mother said in surprise noticing Electra’s nakedness, "What’s happened? Why aren’t you at work? Why are you naked?
"No time," Electra said quickly, waving her hand over her body and clothing myself with her new powers. Then just when she heard the howling she placed a protection barrier over the house.
"Who are you?" Her father asked her.
"I’m your daughter," Electra told them, fighting against the ministrations the creatures were using outside of the house to get in.

"Electra," Her father shouted at her, as he saw Electra’s power dwindling from holding such a powerful protection barrier, "Hold! Keep fighting, your mother and I will cast the dissipating spell,"
"Hurry!" Electra shouted, just before a white light exploded inside the house, and then moved outside.
Then everything went black.
