Aislynn sat in the meadow, overlooking the flowers that were right in front of her. She sketched the last petal and shaded it on the necessary side. Then letting her breath ease out slowly, Aislynn looked at her drawing. It was nice and she thought she had done a good job on it. A glint of sunlight blinded her for a second, not letting her see the black clouds that were now coming. When she could see, a butterfly caught her attention. But as the butterfly flew away, Aislynn noticed the dark clouds. She didn’t really worry about them. All she really wanted to do was move on with her life. She wanted to move on, starting now. No more nightmares. No more nights where she woke up drenched in sweat. No more nights where she slept in fear. No more nights with any horror.
But her past threatened her new life as it was. Could she ever get away from it? Could she really ever forget? Could she really move on? She wanted to. She really did, but every time she would try, she would end up hurt again. Every time she tried to have contact with any men, she would end up leaving with her heart pumping a million times per minute. It hurt deep down to know that she wasn’t strong enough to let go. Her heart would pump and cause pain beating within until she was away from men. She wanted a man, but she knew that she would never be able to have one. Ever. Her depression, fear, and past kept her from having the one thing that could truly make her happy.
As she sat up, the dark clouds finally came forward, challenging her will. Below the sky, underneath the clouds, stood five figures. Men. All of them. Her heart rate increased with just the sight of these males, her fear blossoming. Aislynn looked upon each and every one of those men’s faces, only to see that they were all smirking. When she had finished examining them, all five started to walk, all too fast for her taste, toward her. Getting up, she back peddled, putting some space between the men and her. When they approached, it was nearly pitch black. They stood there, watching her. After a few minutes, Aislynn’s palms began to get clammy. Her heart rate increased… fear coursed through her veins. Clenching her hands together, they made fists. If they came too close… she’d show them. She would. She would.
Aislynn tried to boost her esteem, but the words seemed to fade inside her mind as one of the five men came forward. Raising his hand in the air, he held it open, like he expected her to grasp it. She looked down at it and saw that a black leather glove covered it. Then bringing her head back up, she searched for the man’s eyes. But there was nothing. Shadow’s spread across his face, hiding his appearance from her.
She took a step back, wanted to place more distance between her and the dark figure in front of her. But as soon as her foot lifted to take another step, a low growl sounded. Aislynn continued to step back, noticing that every time she did so, the noise got louder. It was coming from the man facing her.
She didn’t care. Biting her lower lip, Aislynn turned and fled for her life. No matter whom the f*uck it was back there, she didn’t care. She ran her ass away. The growl behind her had turned into a low pitch scream. More voices shouted in a language she couldn’t understand. She didn’t care. She ran away.

Aislynn shot up in her bed, sweat covering her face. Breathing hard, she reached a hand up and wiped the moister aside. Damn. Another nightmare. It had seemed so real though… those men… the shouting… the growling. The hair on her arms were standing up because of the terror coating her imagination. Was it her imagination? Could it have been reality? Sighing, she fell back onto her pillow. She had a feeling that she didn’t want to know the real outcome of that dream.
After sitting there for an hour, she made herself get up. Walking over to the door, she opened it and was blasted with Greek profanity. Rolling her eyes, Aislynn made her way down the steps.
"Don’t f*uck around with me, or I will kick your f*ucking ass!"
Adrianna’s eyes filled with anger, and her body seemed to pump out power. She was their leader, and one of her best friends. Sure, she was a bitch at first but once you got to know her, she was much worse. More then a bitch, she was possessive. No one in Sect would be hurt, and if they were, you’d better pray to God that you weren’t the one who had hurt her soldier. Adrianna was a fearless leader with more battle plans then a whole army, of men, put together. It was incredible.
"You won’t! You need me you stupid, ungrateful bitch!"
Aislynn turned her head and smiled. Lilly was back and in a fight already. Now Lilly… was a strange person. Not a bad one… just not normal. Nothing was physically or mentally wrong, it’s just that she should have been born a man instead of a woman. Don’t get the wrong idea… Lilly had amazing curves, with a slender frame. You could almost say that she was anorexic, but that was unjust. She was built with a healthy body, rich with muscles you didn’t even know you were suppose to have. In the gym, she could bench almost three hundred pounds. Adrianna couldn’t even lift that much. Not only did her muscles out weigh everyone, but also her speed wasn’t human, at least Aislynn didn’t think so. Lilly could load a French 1914 Hotchkiss faster than anyone she knew.
Adrianna chuckled darkly, "You have a point, but I could still wipe that smirk off your face."
Lilly’s smile was deadly. She blinked at her captain for a few seconds. "That you could and I wouldn’t be able to stop you. All the same though… the first blood rule will apply."
Adri’s squadron only had a couple rules, but the most important one would have to be the first blood rule. They couldn’t attack the enemies unless they drew first blood. Once blood was drawn, the kicking ass came into affect in any way, shape, or form.
Adrianna’s throat filled with laughter and she let it burst free. "Awww…how cute, you’ve read the KK handbook in training. I’m so proud of you…" Her voice slipped to a teasing mother tone towards the end, just to piss Lilly off.
"Shut it Adri."
Lilly wasn’t in the mood to be baby-talked. She had just gotten back from training this morning. It had been hell.
KK stood for Kronik Killers. It’s a society of men and woman training to become a new type of soldiers, soldiers whom hunted at night, when normal humans were sleeping. They did anything from air bombings to hand-to-hand combat. They did everything. Anyone with money could hire the KK and destroy pretty much about anything they wanted. Once a team was assigned to a client, the client’s enemy was as good as gone.
Now, there were two more women in Adrianna’s squadron. One was Marissa, also known as Mar. Marissa was a calm and trigger-happy nineteen-year-old. Sure, you wouldn’t think calm and trigger-happy would go well together, hell, they don’t belong together at all, but here they both were formed inside Mar, who was more then willing to kill anyone at any given time. Marissa was fast. She reminded everyone of a bunny. Once she was spotted, in a blink of an eye, she was gone. Mar was also one of the two people who could calm down Lilly when needed. The other was Aislynn, but all the same, only few could do it. Marissa wasn’t to be toyed with. Her weapon of choice, no matter the situation, was always the pump shotgun. Now, that one can be slow to raise and shoot, so when needed she has a semi-automatic Handgun.
The second and one of the most important member of the team was Laura, their sniper. Yes, everyone in the group could snipe, but Laura was the expert. She never missed. Ever. Her range was outstanding and her accuracy was extremely high. You point out a spot on the enemy’s body; she’d take it down. But there was one thing about Laura that most people didn’t know… she had two personalities. She didn’t have schizophrenia, but it was just… when she wasn’t in combat, she was the nicest person you could ever meet. She’d do you hair, your makeup, and even clean your gun. Those were just some of the things she’d do, but when it was time to go hunting… she changed. Laura became an evil, dark warrior who couldn’t be stopped. If you were in her way… she’d plow your ass over.
Aislynn loved the team of women she was assigned to. They each were amazing. She loved being here, doing what she loved to do.
Hunt.
After breakfast, they all went into the basement of their three-story house and met in the debriefing room.
"So, now that we are all here, let us begin. We have five men to eliminate, and will be getting big money for killing these f*uckers. I’m not sure of the trouble that they have caused in the past, but whoever wants them dead will pay anything to get them removed."
Adrianna clicked on the overhead and on the white screen in front of them women was a slide with a large castle surrounded by sharp gates.
"This is where the men are staying and where Aislynn will be staying as well." Adri said, staring right at Aislynn, daring her to make a comment.
In this case, Aislynn dared. Why the f*uck was she the one who had to be close range?
"Adri, this is bull shit! There is no f*ucking way into that place! It’s sealed up tight; security cameras are most likely storming inside that fortress. Censors and motion lights are a must as well. You can tell from just looking at that place that it’s wired like the god damn pentagon!"
Ash was furious and she let the emotion show. How come Adri couldn’t burst in there and shoot the bastard? It would take her night and day just to get over that fence without being seen. This was simply ridiculous!
"You won’t just be barging into the place, dumb ass." Adrianna said matter-o-factly as she rolled her eyes. "You’re going to be part of their new staff, the maid."
Like that helped the situation. Ash’s eyes went as wide as possible. Then she shook her head and laughed. "No way… you’re joking right?" She said with a smiled.
Adri stood with an eyebrow raised, "Does it f*ucking look like I’m kidding?"
The smile vanished as quickly as it came. Aislynn glared at her commanding officer. "That isn’t right! I can’t be a maid!" She yelled, flailing her arms in the in air with protest.
Lilly, Marissa, and Laura remained silent, knowing that it was in their best interest to stay out of the battle at hand. They knew perfectly well when these two were going at it, stay out or be brought in, and being brought it was dumber then going on the field with no ammo. Once you were in, you didn’t get out alive.
"Oh yes you can be maid, you made my bed yesterday and nearly cleaned the whole bathroom." Adrianna argued back.
"Yeah, making a bed and cleaning a toilet really has a lot to do with going into a house full of wanted men. Yup, I say that’s a dandy idea." Ash’s sarcasm hung in the room, but she knew she had a point.
Adrianna stood there, watching closely, her mind working over time to get a solution for the problem at hand. Finally, after a few moments, she sighed and crossed her arms over her chest.
"You have a valid point, but there can be no negotiations on the task at hand. Aislynn you will do as you are told or you will be released from this rank."
She didn’t want that to happen, but Ash was the only one capable of this. She was the only one who had the patience and self-control.
Aislynn’s mouth dropped. She was stunned. Did it really come down to that?
Marissa stood up within a second and was about to object but Lilly and Laura both took an arm, pulling her back down. Two hands covered her mouth, preventing anything from escaping her lips.
"So… it comes down to this, eh?" Aislynn asked, looking down at the floor, her throat tight.
Adri stood there, with her arms still crossed over her crest, but the air around her suggested that she was nervous and uncomfortable.
She nodded, "I don’t want that to happen, but head quarters didn’t leave me any choice. I know you hate doing this type of missions and I tried to get you out to the best of my ability. The Captain wouldn’t budge an inch though. I’m sorry."
Adrianna truly was too, Ash was one of her best, and if she left the squad, the percent of missions completed would drop dramatically. She was very intelligent, and when the going got tough, Aislynn used her skill and wit to get out of sticky situations.
Ash bit her lower lip and exhaled the deep breath she had been holding in. Then lifting her head, she met her commander’s gaze, staring directly into her eyes.
"Then it’s settled I’ll—"

Shadow’s eyes popped open as he felt the floor jerk. Sitting up quickly, he got out of the bed without disturbing Jaal who was in a deep sleep. Another tremor shook the mansion. Cursing silently, he pull on a pair of ripped jeans and sprinted toward the noise, after he shut the door quietly. Stopping on the staircase, he waited, and sure enough another quake came. Following it to the root, he ended up in front of his brother’s room. When he reached for the doorknob, another shock blasted. Opening the door, he saw that one of his brother Echo had been thrown into the cement wall.
Looking in the middle of the room, he saw his other brother, Talon on top of Battle, who was thrashing around, wrestling to throw off the weight on top of his body.
"Battle! My brother calm—" Shadow tried to say but suddenly Talon was kicked into the wall next to Echo.
Shadow’s eyes went wide as he saw his brother stand. Taking a quick glance to the men in the wall, one caught his eye. "He’s in heat."
Shadow nodded and then walked slowly toward Battle, trying to calm him, trying to show that he wasn’t a threat. The only hazard in this room to Battle was himself. He needed to stay calm and control the best. Checking to make sure there were gloves on, he spoke softly.
"Brother, don’t let the beast take over… it’s not what you want… you’re not like that. Control. You’ve always had perfect control…"
Battle whipped his head to Shadow; a low predator growl irrupted from his throat. His eyes glowed. They were deadly. This was bad, very bad. If Shadow came closer, male dominance would take over. Someone needed to be the alpha in this room.
Claws extended from both men, sharp and potent. Blood was going to be shed if Shadow didn’t get control… and it was most likely going to be his blood.
Their eyes met, staring down each other, waiting for the opportunity to attack. Seconds ticked away and the suspense lifted, leaving the air heavy. Shadow blinked and then jumped toward Battle, taking his brother to the ground. Clamping his hand around his brother’s wrists, he held down his arms while his legs put weight onto his brothers. Battle hissed and struggled. Shadow flashed his fangs, indicating that he was dominant. The fight finally ended and Battle went limp. Shutting his eyes he spoke softly, "She’s coming… I can feel it… she’s coming to me."
