Skunk Smell Remedy

Are you searching for ways to remove skunk smell? Then look no further because we have several methods you can use to remove the foul odor.
The best remedy to avoid/remove skunk smell is to hold your breath and plug your nose. But that remedy won't last for a long time. I mean, you have to breathe in some time and once you do, there comes the stinky smell. Alright, so there's an issue with the skunk. And I'm sure he/she is not as adorable as Pepe le Pew. Hence, getting rid of the smell is top priority as most of us have a desire to keep our home smelling fresh.

Now there can be couple of scenarios where you'll be searching for remedies for the annoying smell:
  1. You have pet skunks and would like to keep the stench to a minimal.
  2. There are skunks in your neighborhood and they have become a nuisance.
For the first issue, it's alright to assume that you are going to face difficulties with the foul odor. Pet skunks don't really have the idea about not making their owners' house stinky. As for the second issue, your neighborhood being terrorized by the skunks (OK, not terrorized, but still an annoyance). The first thing you need to do is get rid of the skunks because they have been known to damage lawns and vegetation; they are known for carrying rabies as well. If they find a food source, it won't take them long to make a home for themselves.

Remedy for Skunk Odor

In order to find success with our project, we have separated the remedies into 3 different categories. The awful stench can easily stick to your clothes, in and around your home, and your pets (if you have any). So just follow the methods for whichever remedy you're searching for.

Skunk Smell in Clothes
If there are skunks in and around your home, and you feel that your clothes may have picked up that smell, the first thing you need to do is have a laundry day. The sooner you wash the clothes, the better the chances of getting rid of the smell. You don't require a fancy detergent to get the job done. Just use your regular laundry detergent works fine. You can treat the fabric before running it in the washer will be quite helpful. You, on the other hand, need to go take a shower immediately using extra soap and shampoo than normal.

Skunk Smell in House
House cleaning can take up a long time and when it's especially for that smell, then it may look like a nightmare. But it doesn't have to be that way because we have a quick and easy way remove the smell from your house. First of all, open all the windows in your home so that the smell won't stay inside all the time. Make a mixture of 3 parts warm water, 1 part vinegar, and 2 part chlorine bleach and wash the walls and floors. Purchase a odor neutralizer that cleans the house properly. And if you have carpets in your home, clean it with a steamer.

Skunk Smell in Pets
For our final remedy, we will go over the steps on removing the smell from a dog (or any other pet). Take a spray bottle to mix in 1 quarter hydrogen peroxide, 1 small box baking soda, and 2 tablespoons of dish soap. Spray around your house and leave it for about 20 minutes. Rinse the spray mixture properly and use shampoo recommended for your dog, cat, or any other pet.
