Skin Tags Treatment

Knowing the causes and diagnosis for common skin tags will help you find a suitable treatment for the condition.
Skin tags can become a source of embarrassment as they occur on the exposed areas of the skin and are plainly visible to the naked eye. The situation is worse if the skin tags are pigmented and large or even hanging. The usual cry for help under such conditions is: How to get rid of them?

Skin tags are tumors, but don’t panic. They are not malignant in nature. In fact, they are what are known as benign tumors. But in spite of their benign nature, they can cause a good deal of annoyance and irritation with their unsightly presence.

Thanks to recent advancements in medical sciences, excellent options in skin tag treatment are now available. Gone are the days when people did not have too many choices and were thus compelled to live with them. And without skin tag treatment. Earlier, the natural option for removing skin tags was cutting them off (excising) with a pair of surgical scissors or a scalpel. After the excisions, local pressure or a topical sealing agent was used and this practice was quite normal. After this, surgical dressings (or Band-Aids) were used to cover the wound.

Small tags were often taken care of in this way without the application of anesthetics. In such cases, a small tingling sensation was usually felt in the area of operation. However, for a few less lucky people, the sensation often bordered on a painful experience.

Larger tags, or multiple tags occurring in a cluster in a particular area, called for the application of local anesthesia. Post-anesthetic skin tag treatment had very little pain associated with it and the results were fast and virtually painless.

In recent times, other options in skin tag treatment have emerged. Among this is using liquid nitrogen which freezes the tags and paves the way for their easy removal. The process actually allows one to have small skin tags removed quickly and without pain.

The process, broadly speaking, involves dipping a hemostat or a non-toothed pair of forceps in liquid nitrogen for a few seconds. And then it is used to gently pinch and grasp each skin tag for about 10 seconds. However it is important to ensure that the skin surrounding the tag is not touched by the grasping instrument.

The frozen tag can be shed in just 7-10 days and the process is virtually painless. Once dipped in liquid nitrogen, the frozen tips of the instrument can be used to treat up to about 10 lesions. This also makes the process economical, quick and hassle-free.

Another method of skin tag treatment involves tying off the tag with a piece of thread to cut off the blood supply. This eventually kills the growth and makes way for easy removal afterwards.

There are many who have also benefited from natural methods of skin tag treatment.

These methods, almost always, involve the topical application of a specialized solution that can remove the skin tag naturally. Such products are often called skin blemish removers or skin tag removers.

In many cases, natural products are completely safe can be the most effective solution for skin tag treatment.
