Ski Trip 8!

When we got home, I changed into a cute outfit that hugged my curves, but also kept me warm. Trent had fallen asleep in his chair when we got back and Parvati and Danny were watching TV. The only hello I got was from Danny. Parvati just glared at me like I had done something wrong. Why was she so mad at me? Seth changed Trent’s ice pack while I went up in my room and just laid on my bed. I pulled out my iPod and was starting to listen to it when I heard a knock on my door.
"Hold on a minute." I said, and opened the door. Parvati stood there with her hands on her hips, looking very mad.
"What the heck is your problem?!" she yelled, coming into my room. "Are you just- jealous or something? It’s not my fault that I have a boyfriend and you don’t. But do you really have to try and steal Danny from me?"
"I am not trying to steal Danny from you! You know how I feel about Seth! Why the heck would I go after Danny?!"
"Oh, come on, Sam. You’re a nice actress, but everyone saw through your pathetic act of hypothermia. You fell asleep on purpose just so Danny would carry you in because you knew he was right behind you when you did!"
"I did not do that!" I screamed. "You’re just a selfish person! You can’t stand to even see Danny set eyes on someone else."
"Because that someone else was my best friend! But now, I guess not. We’re through. Don’t ever talk to me again. And I swear to God, Sam, if you lay one hand on Danny you are never going to walk again." She walked out of my room and slammed the door. I heard footsteps race up the stairs. My door opened and Trent came in.
"What was that about? Parvati just came downstairs, took Danny by the hand and dragged him out of here. Did you two have a fight?" he looked tried, and I felt sorry that we had woken him up.
"Yes. She thinks I’m trying to take Danny away from her! She believes that my hypothermia was an act just so that Danny would carry me inside! She’s so dumb, Trent! She knows exactly how I feel about Seth and how I feel about her!" Tears sprung to my eyes and I flopped back on my bed.
"Hey. She’s not really your best friend if she believes that, okay? I know how close you and Parvati are, you two will patch this up in no time."
"Whatever. I rather not talk about her right now."
"OK." he threw his arms up in the air and left me in the room to mope. I heard people go up and down the stairs, but no one else knocked on my door. I was beginning to think that Shane would never come when I heard my door open. I rolled over in bed and saw Shane carrying a bowl of soup and a couple of movies.
"Hey." he smiled, making his way over to my bed. "I brought some movies too. I didn’t know if you had packed any."
"I did, but thanks." he sat down on Trent’s bed as I sat up and handed me the soup. I set it on the table and put my hands between my knees. "So…did you have some good runs in?" I asked, referring to this afternoon.
"Yeah, yeah, I did. How about you? I didn’t get a chance to ask you."
"Good, I mean, I wasn’t really supposed to be outside, but I’m glad I went out. I had fun."
"I’m glad. Hey, there’s a restaurant in the lounge with a video arcade. Do you want to hang out there tomorrow? You can meet who I’m staying with. Me and my 2 best guy friends are heading that way. I could pick you up if you don’t want to walk outside." he was rambling, and I could tell he wanted to stop by the way he pretended to smack his forehead when he thought I wasn’t looking.
"Thanks. I would love to." I smiled. I got up and the shut the door for no reason. "There was a breeze coming in and I was getting cold." I lied. I did it so we could truly be alone.
"Oh, all right. Are you still cold?" I thought about my answer before I said it. What would he do if I said yes?
"Yeah, a little bit." I said, wrapping my arms around myself.
"Here." he took off his American Eagle sweatshirt that he had on and handed it to me. "You can wear it." I smiled and quickly put it on. It was warm and smelled like the cologne that he wears. We both just kind of sat there for a minute, not saying anything, and then he spoke.
"Maybe you want to do this thing with me and the guys. You might not want to, but they have girls that they are bringing, so I thought maybe you would like to come. We’re- well, it’s we are going cross country skiing one day this week. I don’t know when, but it’ll definitely be before Saturday. You up for it? It’ll be fun." he smiled.
"Sounds like fun. I love cross-country skiing. Just let me know the day."
"Awesome. Well, I should get going. We are meeting for dinner tonight. I’ll see you tomorrow night, ok?"
"Yeah. Of course. Bye." he left and I ran downstairs to tell Trent.
