How To Build A Skateboard Ramp?

For building a skateboard ramp, you would need 2 x 4's, plywood, sheet, screws, drill and electric saw.
  • Once you have gathered all the material, decide what kind of a ramp you want to build.
  • Also give a thought to the length and other dimensions, and where are you going to place it.
  • The next step would be, designing it and figuring out the base size. Make sure you use pressure treated wood, if you are going to build wooden skateboard ramp.
  • Now, cut out the wood for your frame after you have decided the height of your ramp. For putting it together, use pressure treated screws.
  • Figure out how are you going to place the support planks for your frame.
  • Cut notches at the center of your plywood for fixing each 2 x 4 plank in, where you intend to nail them to the plywood on either sides.
  • Now, nail a few 2 x 4 planks to the inside and back of the plywood panels. That will keep them solid and safe.
  • Let the 2 x 4 inch planks be added to the inside, for nailing the plywood through, into the 2 x 4 planks.
  • Now decide the positioning of the 2 x 4's in the middle panel and accordingly cut the notches and trace them onto the insides, on other two panels.
  • Nail the 2 x 4's to the end panels to line them up properly with middle notches. Ensure that they have a uniform level.
  • Check if its sturdy enough and add more plywood for support.
  • Now, for the curve or the face piece. Use a thinner plywood for that. Begin with nailing at the bottom. Add more wood, if you find a sort of bump at the base. Even out the connection to the ground. Nail it to the 2 x 4 plank beneath, in several places.
  • Nail the cross members to confirm that the nails are going into 2 x 4's.
  • Now you are once your done, add a strip of plywood to the top.
There you go! This was one of the ways you can build a ramp, I am sure there are many other ways and you would surely find them out to suit your preferences!
