Chapter 5

(Clary's POV)

I knew I should have said no to him, I knew going to Italy with him was wrong, yet I couldn't make myself call him to tell him no. He didn't even tell me how long we were staying. I stopped my car as I got home and as I was taking off my sweater when Hayley came to me.

"When were you going to tell me?" She asked staring at me intently.

"Tell you what?" I replied. She went to the phone and turned on the machine.

"This message is for Clarissa Vaughn from Dr. Carters office. We have your results from last week and they were positive, Mrs. Vaughn, congratulations your pregnant." A female voice said.

"Umm." Was the only thing that came out of my lips. I had taken a home pregnancy test the week before and when it became positive I wanted to make sure it was right.

"Umm, is not the answer Clary. Why didn't you tell me you suspected you were pregnant?" she said coming to stand in front of me.

"I didn't want to tell anyone until I knew for sure." I answered her.

"Oh, so that makes it alright. You should have at least told me." She said turning her back on me and going upstairs.

"Hayley hold on!" I said hurrying up after her. I caught up to her in her room. "It's just that I hadn't had any symptoms. I had my periods and everything. But for the past month I've been getting nausea and vomiting. I can't even be at the restaurant for most of the morning and that's what clued me in. So I took the test and well..."

"God, how is it even possible? You haven't been with anyone, well not that I know off..." she trailed off, don't tell me you slept with Tyler after what he did to you!"

"No! Of course not! It was probably the night before he left for New York." I told her remembering the night Tyler and I had been together at the restaurant, I felt my cheeks get hot.

"That means you're almost four months pregnant!" she almost yelled.

"Probably. I have something else to tell you..." I replied leaving her room and going into mine.

"What?" she said following me into my closet.

"I'm going to Italy. With him." I told her biting my lip. After a long pause she says,

"What? Why? When?" she says.

"He said he'll sign the papers if I go with him." I told her hoping she could understand.

"Are you sure he will? Clary I don't think this is such a great idea..." she started then stopped.

"Yeah. That's what I keep telling myself but I just can't make myself call him to tell him no...although I am worried about what I'm going to tell about my morning sickness." I told her putting my hands on my stomach. Which was a little rounder and a lot harder.

"Are you going to tell him you're pregnant?" she asked me.

"No..." I started then, "I don't know."

"What if he finds out while you're in Italy? How long are you staying?"

"I don't know, he didn't tell me anything." I told her putting on my pjs.

"What if he touches you? Look at your belly its already round." She said then touched my belly, "and its hard too. What if he hugs you? Don't you think he knows your body?"

"I just don't know. I just want him to give me a divorce already so I could move on with my life." I told her going to my bed. "I know I'm not going to love anyone else but I gotta leave the past in the past and get on with my future especially with this baby on the way..." I told her laying my hands on my belly....
