Simple Wedding Bouquets
Elegance, charm, and affordability; achieve them all with these ideas for simple wedding bouquets.

Ideas
Even if you wish to keep it simple, bridal flowers add the final touch to the overall appearance of the bride, so choosing them in the right manner is extremely important. Take a look at how you can beautifully carry off a simple wedding bouquet.
- You can use lesser number of flowers with larger blooms, and make a simple and elegant wedding bouquet.
- A real simple idea is to carry just one long-stemmed flower. A calla lily would be ideal for such an option.
- The simple dome shaped bridal bouquet is easy to carry and complements almost any wedding theme.
- An interesting way to keep it simple, yet different, is to carry silk or origami flowers, instead of the usual floral bouquet.
- Opt for a single colored bouquet instead of a mix of different colors, to keep it elegant. Also, a simple bouquet doesn't have to be small. If you opt for one color, say pink roses, you can use about 60 stems to make it large, and still keep it simple.
- If you still wish to have some variety in color, use leaves of different shades and sizes to add richness to your bridal bouquet. Another way is to keep it monochromatic, yet use different wedding flowers in similar shades. This adds quality to the texture and overall look of the bouquet.
Some brides may wish to make their own wedding bouquet. Why not? It adds the perfect personal touch to your entire bridal make up. Take a look at the process of making a beautiful bouquet.
- Choose flowers that are long-lasting, and that have the capacity to undergo some rough handling. Roses or tulips are a good option in this case.
- Using a stem stripper, rip the stems off their thorns and leaves.
- Now dip the stems in water, and cut them at an angle. Ensure all stems have an equal length. 2 inches upwards, from the base of the stem is a good length. You can further trim the stems once you have completely prepared the bouquet.
- Till you are ready to use them next, place the flower stems in cool water, in a vase or a bucket.
- Now pick one flower at a time, and hold it just at the base of the flower head. Construct it in a circular manner, to achieve the dome shape.
- Secure the bouquet with a floral tape at the point where the stems join. The point 3 - 4 inches below the flower head is ideal. Continue binding till the end, leaving enough of the stem to be trimmed later. Ideally, this is where you should leave the stems in water, and complete the process just before you are about to leave for the ceremony. This will maintain the freshness of the bouquet.
- To complete the process of making your wedding bouquet, trim the stems to an equal level. They should be 7 - 8 inches long. Dry them out with a paper towel.
- Now take a ribbon (about 1 inch wide) that either complements or beautifully contrasts the color of the flowers, depending on your choice. Beginning at the top, start wrapping the stems spirally downwards, tightly. Once you reach the end, go back up in the same fashion. Let the end of the ribbon meet the beginning of the ribbon, and tuck both in to the stems. Use a pearl tipped corsage pin to hold the ribbon in place.
- If you wish to completely prepare the bouquet in advance, after you finish wrapping it with ribbon, place the bouquet wrapped in tissue, in the refrigerator.
- Make the bouquet at a time as close to the ceremony as possible. Spray some water on the flowers to keep them fresh.
