Simple Guide to Fixing Leaky Faucets

Troubled by leaky faucets? Fear not. There is a solution.
If you have a leaky faucet in your house then it takes a toll on your peace of mind. It does not allow you to sleep peacefully at nights and during the day most of your time is wasted trying to fix it but all your methods hardly succeed in getting it fixed properly.

To make your life peaceful we have devised a simple way that will fix your leaky faucets and thus help you to enjoy a good sleep. Forget calling the plumber who comes each time and takes away your hard earned money. Check out the faucet by yourself. Check if the O-Ring and the rubber washer of the faucet are worn out.

After you have found out that the ring and washer are worn out then you need to check what type of faucet you have. Is the facet compression type or non-compression type? If it is a non-compression type then it’s simpler and easy to repair because it just has a single lever in comparison to the compression type faucets which have two levers - one hot and the other cold.

For the non-compression type faucet the steps are:

1. Firstly you have to stop the water dripping through shut-off valve which is located just under the sink. To know exactly which pipe is leaking check both the hot and cold pipes.

2. The next step is to open the drain. After you have successfully done it remove the screw with which the handle is attached to the faucet. This can be easily done mechanically with the help of a screwdriver.

3. After the handle has been removed the next step is to open the nut and the stem. To open the nut the best way is to take the help of pliers or an adjustable wrench with which you just have to rotate the nut in an anti-clockwise direction. After the nut is opened then simply take out the stem from the facet.

4. The next step is to gradually take out the washer. After the washer has been taken out get the required parts from a hardware store and fix them in proper place.

5. Finally, after you have replaced the damaged parts all that are left for you to do are to put everything back the way it was.

Now your faucet is ready to be used and you don’t need the plumber as well.
