These nail wraps are much more preferred than acrylic nail wraps as they do not cause any trouble and are also easy to maintain. Silk wrap nails cost about $20 to $25 and are easily available in many departmental stores. They are used on natural nails to strengthen their tips and prevent them from breaking. Given below are some efficient ways to apply silk wraps to your nails and protecting them from damage.

How to Silk Wrap Nails

As mentioned above silk wrap nails are made of silk fibers and are designed to enhance the nails' look and to protect them. They are much easier to remove and can't cause any damage to your original nail.

Step 1
If you have nail polish on your fingernails, use remover to take it off and if you don't have any, apply some oil build up. Dip a cotton ball into the remover and gently scrub the nail to clean it.

Step 2
Clip your nails in an even form and remove the extra length if any. Use a filer to file them down a bit and keep the nail longer than the fingertip so it can support the silk wrap nail. With the filer, file the upper surface of the nail so it doesn't have a shine and use a filer with a small grit to keep the nail from damage.

Step 3
Now cut your silk nails to the desired length with the clipper and see if it fits the base of the natural nail properly. Apply a thin coat of glue to the top of the nail and gently spread it over the nail to make sure it is not spread on the skin.

Step 4
Apply the silk wrap a little higher than the cuticle and use a plastic compressor sheet to press the nail down into the glue. Hold it pressed in the same position for about 10 to 15 seconds and do the same for all the ten fingernails.

Step 5
Once you've applied the silk wrap nails, let them dry well and then with a clipper, cut off the extra length of the original nails if they are not uniform. Apply nail polish to the silk wraps if you want them to look attractive and file them once it has dried.

It is very important to take care of these silk wrap nails once you've applied them. You have to be regular in maintaining them by keeping them clean and hygienic. You should moisturize your cuticles regularly with small wet cotton balls and keep changing your nail polish often. It's ok to leave them with any polish for sometime too.

The next time you need to go for a party, you can simply style your nails by putting on these silk wrap nails and flaunt them in front of all your girlfriends.
