Silent Tears

A war poem I did for English assignment lol....I changed the name
The scent of death,
The chill in the air,
The sound of firing guns I can't bear,

Blood flows like rivers and another man goes down,
A mothers baby boy, a wife’s first true love, a child's loving father now lay before me not making a sound,

Everywhere I turn I see the lifeless bodies of heroic men,
I hear the sound of gunfire death strikes again,

So many young lives lost, still many more to die,
As I think about this my heart begins to cry,

Salty tears or anguish start to run down my face,
I feel my soul dying, at a rapid pace,

As the sun starts to set I thank god for my life,
Even though tomorrow I know I will again have to fight.
