Signs that Someone is Using Drugs

If you see some of these signs that someone is using drugs, then try to get them help immediately.
When someone begins to use drugs it not only takes a physical toll on the person’s body, but it also begins to affect relationships. Friends and family members of drug users often go through a time of denial themselves, hoping that they are wrong about their predictions. There may be signs that point towards drug use, but they do not want to believe what they are seeing. This denial can cause greater danger to your friend or family member who is using drugs. They will continue to use until confronted with reality. Here are some symptoms or signs of a potential drug user.

Drugs affect people in so many different ways that they almost stop being themselves. One of these signs of drug use may be wild mood swings. You may being to notice a friend of yours going through severe mood swings that causes them to be extremely happy at one moment and then the next thing you know they are quite and depressed. The drugs begin to take a toll on the mind and cause this wild change in mood.

Not only will the drug use make them act weird emotionally, but it may also cause them to become violent. Especially when they are on the drugs a user may not be able to control themselves, and become hostile or violent towards not only strangers but loved ones. You may start to notice increased yelling or attempts of physical violence towards you or someone you know. Look out for this change in behavior and an increase in physical violence.

Since someone who is on drugs may spend much of their waking time intoxicated, they will begin to stop caring about their personal hygiene and look. You may being to notice that they are wearing the same outfit for a few days in a row, or that they have not showered lately. This is a sign of laziness and that they have stopped caring about themselves. Watch out for someone’s lack of hygiene and personal care.

One of the worst things a drug user may begin to do is steal. Not only will they steal from others or people they do not know, but they may also begin to steal from friends or family. Look out for missing money or items. This is where the signs start to hit home and you begin to see that it is not the same person you once knew. Trying to confront someone about stealing may lead to some other signs such as lying.

Many of these signs or symptoms listed above may lead to another sign that someone has become addicted to drugs, and that is loss of job. Before being on drugs someone may have had a nice job that they cared about and put effort into. Once they begin to use the drugs though they may begin to stop caring or lose focus on their job. This may cause them to lose their job, since their boss will not put up with the lack of effort.

Finding out a loved one or friend is on drugs will be a difficult time for everyone. It begins to affect relationships and causes pain for all parties. If you begin to see some of these signs, do not wait any longer and try to get them help. The faster you can get the help the faster they can get their life back.
